Immaculately clean, friendly service, a beautiful view of the mountains to the West, walking distance to Santo da Serra, a lovely flower scent in the hotel gardens . This hotel felt very genuine – and quite different to the mass tourist concentration of Funchal. We love Madeira – but will always try to have some days outside Funchal and this was a perfect spot.

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a walking/ hiking holiday. Really, a great little place. Very quiet and relaxing. Bedrooms were clean and well equipped with a comfy bed - essential after a days hiking. Food was excellent with a menu changing daily - loved the ‘surprise’ dessert every night! Staff were all very pleasant and attentive with special mention to our evening dining room waitress ( sorry, didn’t get her name) who never stopped smiling! Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The room was great, very nice and spacious as was the bathroom. Rustic wooden furniture and warm tones. The views from the terrace are beautiful to the mountains. Pretty good breakfast, a bit of everything.

Kleines aber feines Hotel inmitten eines wunderschönen Gartens. Die Zimmer sind geräumig und ansprechend eingerichtet, vom Balkon blickt man über den Garten zum Bergpanorama. Alles ist sehr sauber. Das Frühstücksbuffet lässt keine Wünsche offen. Frische Brötchen, Toast, Käse, Aufschnitt, Joghurt, frische Säfte und Obstsalat. Rührei mit Beilagen, Tee und Kaffee, alles vom besten. Auch abends kann man im Hotel gut Speisen. Die Karte wechselt täglich und man hat die Auswahl zwischen Fleisch- und Fischmenue. Der Aufenthaltsraum und die Terrasse vorm Haus sind sehr ansprechend. Es gibt genügend Parkplätze am Haus und das Publikum des Hauses ist international und angenehm. Die nächtliche Ruhe ist sehr wohltuend. Das Personal ist fürsorglich und hilfreich. Von hier aus ist man in 20 Minuten in Funchal und in 15 Minuten in Machico.
