Shangri-La Sanya

Upon entering the lobby, I was carrying a large bag, and the bellboy watched me struggle with it. The two people checking in were mumbling and moving slowly, and they still charged a deposit. We arrived around 5 or 6 PM. We booked a sea-view room, and the view was decent. However, there was grime in the shower stall and bathtub, a stain on the duvet, and the bathroom floor had dark, patchy areas. The best part of the public area was the large lawn. The sandpit area was incredibly messy and didn't offer a relaxing, resort-like feel. Apart from the pool area, there were very few places to lie down. The pool loungers were made of fabric and looked quite dirty.

The room layout was well-designed and very comfortable, with the night light perfectly placed for safety without being too bright. The breakfast offered a wide variety of choices, and all the staff were incredibly friendly. Our dedicated customer service agent, Nicole, was always helpful and answered all our questions. The hotel's environment is top-notch, surrounded by lush greenery. The fire dance and iron flower performances in the evening during the Spring Festival were absolutely stunning.

Our butler, Nicole, was absolutely amazing! She proactively helped us coordinate our room, and when we decided to extend our stay, she responded promptly. Even when she wasn't on duty, she made sure to connect us with a colleague. Every request was met with a response, and every issue was resolved. The room was clean, and there was no musty smell despite being on the first floor. The bed was super large, and a family of three (one adult, two children) slept very comfortably. The water park had heated water, and our 1.5-year-old had three slides to enjoy, while our older child had two large waterslides – they had such a blast! It was a truly wonderful trip, and we'll definitely be staying here again.

I recently stayed at the Shangri-La Sanya for 4 nights with my parents and child, and everyone absolutely loved it! This hotel is definitely a hidden gem for a family vacation. 📍 **Excellent Location:** It's super close to the beach, and some rooms even offer direct sea views. It's only a 10-minute drive to the Sanya International Duty-Free Shopping Complex, which is incredibly convenient for those who love to shop. Wuzhizhou Island pier is also not far, making it easy to hail a taxi. 🛏️ **Room Experience:** Since I was traveling with my parents and child, I opted for the Horizon Club. The Horizon Club offers access to an executive lounge with not only breakfast but also afternoon tea and dinner, which was incredibly convenient. The room itself was spacious and bright, and the balcony offered stunning sea views. The room was exceptionally clean and thoughtfully equipped with children's toiletries and a children's step stool. There's also a sofa bed in the room, which you can ask the butler to set up in advance – perfect for a family of four. 🍽️ **Satisfying Dining:** The main restaurant's breakfast spread was incredibly rich with a huge variety of options, including freshly squeezed watermelon and cantaloupe juice. To my surprise, there was even a dedicated kids' area! It offered not only dishes suitable for children like wontons, congee, pasta, steamed buns, and fried snacks, but also finely cut fruits and vegetables, showing great consideration for little ones. My child absolutely loved it. The Horizon Club executive lounge was also fantastic. Besides afternoon tea, they have an evening happy hour with different hot dishes each day. They also offered non-spicy vegetable and meat dishes, as well as fried noodles and rice, suitable for children. Everything tasted great. 🎪 **Abundant Children's Activities:** There are tons of parent-child activities every day, along with unlimited free rides on the mini-train. We participated in a dragon fruit sushi-making class, which was a wonderful experience, and my child had an absolute blast. The hotel also has an adventure zone, a petting zoo, and you can even ride ponies and ostriches, which the kids really enjoyed. The water park is also large and clean. Unfortunately, it was a bit chilly when we visited, so we didn't go in, but it would be perfect for warmer weather. 💫 **Five-Star Service:** The hotel service was absolutely superb. Romy checked us in, and she was incredibly kind. She helped us resolve a breakfast issue and personally escorted us to the shuttle bus stop after check-in. Our luggage was also delivered directly to our room by a dedicated staff member – super nice. This vacation was incredibly satisfying, and I will definitely choose Shangri-La again the next time I visit Sanya!

The room with a sofa bed is perfect for a family of four. The environment is beautiful, and there are business computers available in the lobby, which is very thoughtful. The Xiangzhen Garden Party's intangible cultural heritage trendy party (featuring colorful go-karts, bouncy clouds trampoline, clown performances, pitch-pot, archery, blindfolded gong striking, fire dancing, and bonfire party interactions) was exceptionally fun. Service: Victoria was very attentive and contacted us early to arrange check-in and other services. She even arranged a 2 PM late check-out, which was very convenient for our family with elderly and children.

I visit Sanya at least twice a year, and this was my first time staying in Haitang Bay. I chose the kid-friendly Shangri-La, also so I could easily visit Atlantis for the aquarium and shows. **Facilities:** It's an older hotel, and as mentioned online, there was a slight musty smell. There were also some mold spots in the bathroom grout. However, you can tell they're making an effort to maintain it. The rooms don't have smart toilets or new hair dryers, just standard amenities. **Hygiene:** It was pretty normal, didn't notice any particular hygiene issues. **Environment:** The public areas are really nice. The lawn is large and soft, and there are benches and seats scattered throughout the grounds. The kids' pool area is very well-equipped with slides, mushroom fountains, water guns, and everything you could need. Since my child only likes pools and digging in the sand, we didn't participate in the kids' activities. Upon check-in, we received a stamp collecting booklet which looked quite extensive, and they also offer paid childcare. However, there are no beach chairs or umbrellas, and the quality of the beach itself is disappointing. **Service:** As I booked through Trip.com, concierge service was included. The concierge was quite responsive, and most requests were met. Let's talk about the Horizon Club lounge. They offer refreshments three times a day, but the selection is very limited. The best ingredients each day were steak or salmon. Finally, I have to say: Haitang Bay feels like it's gone downhill in the past two years. It used to be a hub for high-end resort hotels, but now with the helicopters and parasailing, it's very noisy with a constant 'thump-thump-thump' all day. The helicopter pad is right between Atlantis and Shangri-La. Haitang Bay has strong waves, so hotels tend to focus their efforts on the public areas and don't manage the beach. After a few days, the entire beach was dirty, with dead fish, barnacles, firecracker debris everywhere, and even horse manure from passing horses. Sigh, this isn't specific to Shangri-La, it's a common issue.
