The Mangrove Sanya

This was our first time visiting this hotel and what we loved from the pictures were the villa options. We chose the family villa with the private pool - absolutely amazing for us! What we did not enjoy was the lack of diversity we were expecting to experience. We often had to tell visitors and hotel staff to stop taking pictures of us. We felt uncomfortable in certain spaces. Emily an our personal assistant were the only ones to welcome us and build connection through our interactions. They were exceptional! Before we say that language was the barrier, we disagree because we all speak Mandarin. It just appeared that our appearance made it more difficult for others to connect. I would hope for this hotel to consider bringing in other cultures in to help recreate a more inclusive experience for ALL. Example- menus were all in Mandarin, which made my point of only supporting mandarin speakers. If we are not your ideal group of inclusivity then disregard what I’ve written. We are constantly looking for more international settings like Sofitel and Atlantis of whom we’ve visited and stayed in and are pleased with their services.
