THE GATE HOTEL SAPPORO by HULIC

The hotel is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from Sapporo Station, which is directly connected to the airport via the JR Airport Express. Don't listen to previous reviews suggesting you head towards Daimaru department store. Instead, follow my photos to easily find the hotel. You won't even need to cross the street. Just locate the Namboku Line subway, then find Exit 9 through the side passages. When I visited in February, there was a Descente store next to the hotel's elevator. The front desk is on the 10th floor. Breakfast was good, and the hot springs were very relaxing. Most importantly, the hotel is new. Our triple room included executive lounge access, offering red and white wine, coffee, and four snacks including Jagabee (Jaga Pokkuru). We had a very comfortable stay. Housekeeping is done by 3 PM at the latest. Hokkaido University is a 20-minute walk, Mitsukoshi is also 20 minutes on foot, and the Factory Outlet is a 15-minute walk. We walked everywhere from the hotel.

The Gate Hotel Sapporo by Hulic has a fantastic overall vibe. Its minimalist design feels really upscale. The hotel's location in downtown Sapporo is super convenient for shopping and dining. The room itself was comfortable, with plenty of natural light, making for a very relaxing stay. What I loved most was the quiet, tasteful atmosphere – it’s the perfect hotel for a restful trip to Sapporo.

The room isn't small, and it's very close to Sapporo Station, just a five to six-minute walk through the underground passage. However, being a new hotel, there's still a slight new smell.

Staying in a standard double room at THE GATE HOTEL Sapporo was a fantastic experience! The room was spotless and well-maintained, and the front desk staff were professional and courteous. The best part is that the hotel elevator goes directly to the underground shopping street, making it super convenient for getting around and shopping, even when it snows! The only downside is a 24-hour construction site nearby, which might cause a little noise at night and affect sleep. If you're a light sleeper, I'd recommend bringing earplugs. Overall, it's great value for money and still highly recommended!

I had been keeping an eye on The Gate by Hulic Sapporo since its announced opening on December 20, 2025, and booked a Scenic Double Bed Room as soon as it became available on Trip.com. It was a corner room with two windows, offering plenty of natural light and views of Sapporo Tower and the Susukino Ferris Wheel. The hotel is conveniently located just one block from Sapporo Station, with a direct elevator from subway exit 9 up to the 10th-floor lobby. The lobby features floor-to-ceiling windows with great views. The room itself was stylish and felt spacious. I didn't get a chance to experience the dining or public bath, so I can't comment on those, but otherwise, it was a thoroughly satisfying stay. I also want to commend the front desk staff for their excellent English; they even helped me call a restaurant to cancel a reservation and quickly sent extra towels to my room when I requested them. Overall, the service and cleanliness were top-notch. The Gate Hotel will definitely be my first choice next time I'm in Sapporo! 👍🏻

Room: Booked a triple room advertised at 31 sq.m., but it felt more like 25 sq.m. at most, making it very cramped. The hotel's description was inaccurate. Service: I was catching an early JR train to Hakodate and wanted to store my luggage until the following afternoon. However, the hotel refused, stating they could only hold it until that evening since I didn't have another reservation. I found this policy very unhelpful, but as I was in a hurry, I didn't press the issue. I won't choose this hotel again, nor will I recommend it. Location: While not far from the JR station, it was quite hard to find the first time, especially using the underground route. The hotel also lacks prominent signage. If it's not snowing, I'd suggest walking above ground as it's quicker to navigate.
