We would love to return to Lake Tyrrell and would happily stay here again. It’s a little bit of a hike to the main street for a meal, but it’s worth it, just as the drive of 5k or so out to the lake viewing platform is worth it. It’s just not really walkable, and that’s a measure I value. I’m less bothered by noise these days as I can sleep with my AirPods in, but if you are a light sleeper, the truck noise from the road 50-100m away goes all night. Rooms share walls and a family arriving next door in the evening were pretty audible til they’d settled in. I think that was mostly through the front window though. It could have felt a bit spooky if we’d checked in and been the only one or two units in use, as the reception is entirely automated. The friendly notes on the walls and texts before and after leaving do help alleviate this sense of disconnection, but I can imagine some finding it hard to relax without staff around. That said, everything else was great. Good mini bar, complimentary cereal and bottled water in addition to the usual tea/coffee, great aircon, good TV, friendly cleaning staff.
