Denis Private Island Seychelles

The flight is an adventure in itself and sets the tone for the whole island and visit. An absolute paradise of an island. The snorkelling was amazing in the warm waters that surround the island. The villas are spacious; the Alfresco bathroom fabulous. The food is absolutely superb served by amazing waiters who are friendly and caring. A couple of areas were not so good: The organisation of the boat trip was not good and our trip was changed 3 different times and when we did arrive at the appointed time we weren’t expected. Our son organised a surprise for us for my birthday but it didn’t happen. The first we knew of it was when he asked us how it went. We then needed to enquire why it hadn’t happened. There was obviously a physical lack of management on the island and staff did not appear to be empowered to make decisions.

This is a unique holiday experience. Superb hotel with exceptional food and service. On our visit there were around 30 other guests generally staying 3-4 days, we were staying for a week. There were couples, honeymooners, friends and families with children a mixture of ages. With so few guests it was easy relaxing and chatting, exchanging experiences of the island. Visually stunning sea, sand and coastline. Walking, cycling, sea swimming, pool time all so relaxing. Our particular interest is conservation and birdwatching and this island is a superb place to try and understand and experience a successful first class ecologically thoughtful vacation. From the excitement of the grass runway small plane arrival, to the exploration of the sea and island jungle, the conservation of threatened indigenous species and the very high service standard of the hotel this is a special world which was a privilege to visit.

Denis island is amazing- from the moment we arrived the staff were so welcoming and accommodating. I had a food allergy and they made me the most incredible food. We enjoyed relaxing on the island, as well as exploring. If you can visit this island you must! We can’t wait to go back in visit the tree we were lucky enough to plant. Thank you.

This Island and hotel are an absolute must if you are visiting the Seychelles and you want to experience the very best beaches, nature and hospitality. It isn’t a cheap option as there are only 23 bungalows available and the only way to get there is by a small plane which you need to pay for separately. However, once you arrive, you will not be disappointed. The beaches are pristine with soft white sand, the meals (all included) are of excellent quality - lots of choice for breakfast, a 3 course lunch and a 5 course evening meal or buffet each day - you definitely won’t go hungry. The staff are brilliant and ensure that you are very well looked after from start to finish. They could not have done more to make us feel welcome. We were lucky to stay when there were only a few bungalows occupied, so it often felt like we had the whole island to ourselves. We enjoyed exploring the island by bike to visit the farm which produces much of the food served on the island. We also enjoyed seeing and learning about the many species of birds that reside on the island. There are turtles in a few of the bays close to shore and it was such a fantastic experience to swim alongside them whilst snorkelling and watch them popping their heads up from the beach. We can’t wait to visit Denis again - it’s such a magical experience.

We spent 5 days here and we knew that there would be no wifi or TV in our room. It was such a good"detox"for us. We had 2 bikes and enjoyed cycling around the beautiful island and visiting the little farm which had a variety of well kept animals. There is a group of resident giant tortoises which we would see on our way to and from the restaurant. The staff were delightful and morale was very high. It felt like a truly happy community. Restaurant service was incredibly quick and efficient. The food was excellent and most came from the island. We stayed in a Beach Spa Cottage which was right on the beach. It was very private and the sand was so clean. The sea was wonderful for swimming. Denis Island is a very special place.

We stayed at Denis Island for 5 nights and were not able to snorkel from the beach to the coral reef due to currents and waves. Firstly we were supposed to fly from Mahe to Denis May 9 at 11.30, however they the plane was fully booked and we had to wait for two more hours for the next plane. Due to that, we lost the halft a day on Denis Island. Due to that, we were very tierd and dissapointed and got no recovery for this. We asked for a snorkeling tour and the manager said that next morning is possible. We told her that we go for the tour any other day but not the next early morning because of tireness. She never told us that this would be our only change to go for snorkeling tour during our stay at the Denis Island. We asked every day if the skipper could take us even for a 1-hour snorkeling tour, however, he was booked the whole week for a diving group. He said that he won't take divers and snorkelers together. The coral reef is quite far from the beach and therefore you must swim a lot out to the reef and back. This is dangerous due to currents and waves. We really had wished even once during our stay to go snorkeling, so we were quite disappointed that the staff nor the skipper tried harder to arrange a snorkeling tour for us and the other guests as well. They had two boats but only one skipper. I think guests should be prepared that they won't go for a snorkeling tour at all during their stay at Denis Private Island.

We spent 5 glorious nights on Denis Island staying in a delightful deluxe beach cottage set back in beautiful gardens about 80 meters from our own lovely stretch of beach. What we noticed as soon as we stepped off the plane was the exceptional hospitality and professionalism of all staff which continued throughout our stay adding to the wonderful experience. The food was great with many of the ingredients sourced from the island's farm. The menus were varied and we enjoyed a fantastic creole buffet, barbecue and an Asian themed fusion of freshly grilled fish and sushi. The cottage was beautifully furnished and it was a joy to relax in its environs whether on the verandah outside, the sala with its daybed or the sun loungers directly on the beach. We read, swam, snorkelled, cycled and walked the islands paths and thoroughly relaxed in the process. Listening to the birdsong together with the ebb and flow of the ocean was the perfect antidote to the stresses of everyday life. It was whilst exploring the island that we fully appreciated its environmental efforts, conservation and sustainability as we passed the farm and met workers managing the forest. When snorkelling, it was heartening to witness a recovering marine environment with turtles, stingrays and a myriad of fish enjoying the protected waters. We also took a kayak out for the morning which gave us the opportunity to view Denis from the sea and gaze down upon the marine life through crystal clear waters. We also enjoyed some of the spa treatments - Zee's facial, body scrub and massage were excellent. We absolutely loved our stay - thank you to all the staff who helped to make it so memorable. We spent 8 nights on Denis and all we can say it was one of the most fabulous places we had ever been to. The cottage was superb and all of the Staff went out of their way to speak to you and to deliver outstanding service. The food was absolutely amazing completely beyond our expectations. We were here for our honeymoon and I cannot think of a better place than this. Denis Island is a truly amazing place. Thank you very much to all of you working at Denis Island.

if you can't afford your own island, but want to experience that feeling, then this is the place for you. From the moment you arrive in your 9 seater plane, you are made to feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. The beachside bungalow was perfect, ours was a short distance from the main Resturant but bikes were provided for the energetic and a golf buggy would pick you up if needed. We snorkelled, biked, swam in the infinity pool and had lazy days in the sun too. Food was excellent as was the cocktails. We loved it! planning my next visit. thank you to all the staff for making our visit special.
