Atour Origin Hotel（Shanghai North Bund Riverfront International Plaza）

We chose this hotel for our trip to Disneyland Shanghai, and it's perfectly located between Hongqiao and Disney, right next to a subway station. This made it super convenient to get to Disneyland and explore the old city for food. The hotel's decor is very stylish, and they provide a full range of amenities, showing great attention to detail. Everything was also spotlessly clean. The breakfast was a delightful surprise! They have freshly ground coffee, a mix of Chinese and Western dishes, a live noodle station, and even both sweet and savory toppings for douhua (tofu pudding), settling the North-South debate perfectly. The menu changes daily, and they regularly introduce new dishes. There's also a late-night congee bar, which, despite offering simple congee, side dishes, and steamed buns, was incredibly thoughtful for us after a long day at Disneyland. The staff were all very friendly too. Highly recommend staying here!

The room was quite clean and the view was great, with a good sight of the 'three-piece suit' (Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Jin Mao Tower, and Shanghai World Financial Center). The bedding was very comfortable, and the laundry room was also clean. They even gave us a souvenir when we checked out. I would definitely come back again.

The room is a typical Atour 4.0, nothing special. Most rooms either have no windows or fake ones. The size is okay. What I absolutely couldn't stand was the air conditioning – it was stuck on 'fan mode' and couldn't be adjusted, so the room was 30 degrees all night. They brought a portable AC unit, but the noise was so loud I couldn't sleep at all. I've been staying at Atour for over 10 years, and this was definitely the worst night ever. The service was also terrible; for the first time, I encountered staff who were evasive and dishonest, constantly citing 'rules and regulations.' It's the first time I've seen such arrogant 'big-brand bullying' from an Atour in Shanghai. I finally gave up and checked out at 5 AM when it got light. I will never stay here again, and from now on, I'll have to thoroughly vet any Atour before booking. The video below shows the temperature and noise – who could possibly sleep with that?

This Atour branded hotel generally has good facilities, especially with their claimed 4.0 version which shows improvements in hotel design and smart hotel features. However, my experience this time did have some issues. I was informed beforehand that it was a windowless room, as I was looking for good value for money. But the air conditioning not working properly was quite unexpected. The room was stuffy. I was originally staying for two nights but ended up changing rooms after just one night. Everything else was fine.

For a 780-yuan room, it was so stuffy I couldn't sleep. When I asked, they said the hotel's AC only provides heating. Even though I knew it was a corridor window when I booked, I thought it wouldn't be too stuffy and that there'd be a fresh air system. Turns out, it felt like it wasn't even on. Most rooms in this hotel have corridor windows, and I don't know why the fresh air system is so bad – are they cutting costs by not running it? They brought over a fan, which felt ridiculous; the AC was heating while the fan was blowing cool air... This is the worst Atour I've ever stayed at, definitely do not recommend.

Really liked it! I especially enjoyed the book bar on the first floor; the books there were totally my style. The overall layout and design are very refined. Highly recommend!

Overall, it was a great stay. The breakfast was especially good, with delicious soy milk and tofu pudding. The late-night congee was also very tasty. The room facilities were new and modern. My only minor complaint is that the room was a bit far from the elevator, but everything else was excellent.

Cleanliness: Extremely clean. Housekeeping was also very prompt. Service: Excellent! Everyone greets you with a nod and a smile. Facilities: Very new and well-designed.

The service was exceptional! The hotel's location right next to a shopping mall was incredibly convenient. The staff were all so kind and made me feel very welcome. One of the ladies even gave us a souvenir when we checked out. The breakfast was delicious too! Highly recommend coming here.
