Great location, just don't make the mistake to exit the train station from the north, you're about to make a 20' walk all around. Breakfast was sufficient, the room was a bit cold and they couldn't do anything to fix the heat as long we stayed because they are state owned.

Location is very good...we took the metro around Shanghai and the hotel is very near the station. We went to Suzhou and took the rail as well. Very convenient for travellers.

This was our second stay at the hotel, and this time we opted for a Superior Room. It was fantastic! The room was wonderfully spacious and spotless, and the bathroom featured a convenient wet and dry separation. The hotel service was excellent; they were very accommodating and allowed us to check in early, well before the official check-in time, which we greatly appreciated. If you're traveling to Shanghai by train, choosing this hotel is definitely the right call – its location is incredibly convenient.

The room was comfortable, and the location is incredibly convenient. It's right by the southwest exit of Shanghai Railway Station – just turn right, and you're there. Being close to Metro Line 1 also makes getting around super easy. This is my top pick for business trips. The hotel environment is clean, and the room was quiet, thanks to the double-glazed windows. The pillows and bed were very comfortable.

Excellent location – just a 5-minute walk from Shanghai Railway Station (even with a large suitcase it’s no problem) and with very convenient access to the subway (exits 1 and 2). The staff are friendly and the hotel is clean. The walls aren’t fully soundproof and the AC can be a bit loud, but overall it was a great stay.

Given my travel plans and my overall satisfaction with the service, I decided to extend my stay for an additional night. I had a wonderful rest; surprisingly, despite being right next to the train station, I wasn't bothered by any noise. The Huangpu River is also easily accessible, offering some great views. I'd definitely choose to stay here again on future visits.

The bed had a lovely old Shanghai charm. However, I found that the housekeeping service was inconsistent. One cleaner meticulously wiped the tables, while another who serviced our room for two days was less thorough. They merely removed used towels and trash bags, and replenished slippers and water. As a result, we had to tidy up our hair after showering and wipe down the vanity ourselves every day. The front desk staff were very responsible and provided thoughtful luggage storage service, even kindly reminding us to place our bags within the surveillance camera's view. Thank you! The bellhop at the entrance also helped with our luggage; their effort was much appreciated!

Excellent! Although a bit older, it's spacious, clean, and completely odor-free. Housekeeping was superb, and the service was attentive, even offering help with luggage. The facilities were comprehensive, and the air conditioning was strong and fresh. From the window, you get a great view of Lujiazui, and the location is very convenient for transportation. The only minor downside is the soundproofing; noises from next door were very noticeable, even small things like plugging in a charger. Thankfully, noise from the nearby train station wasn't a big problem, with only occasional train sounds.

This was my second stay at the Railway Building, primarily chosen for its incredibly convenient location. You can reach even the furthest gate within the station from the front desk in under 10 minutes. The main drawback is its proximity to the railway line. At night, you absolutely need to draw the thick curtains to block out the searchlights, and even with double-glazed windows, train noises can't be completely eliminated. Therefore, it's best suited for heavy sleepers or those who aren't sensitive to white noise. Upon check-in, the front desk kindly accommodated my request for a high-floor room. The room itself has been refurbished since my last visit a year ago, now featuring bright strip lighting and equipped with an air purifier, a mini-fridge, and a fan. The pillows are very comfortable, similar in feel and design to those at Atour hotels. It’s an ideal choice for passengers on the go.

First, the pros: 1. **Excellent location:** The hotel is just over 100 meters from the southwest exit of Shanghai Railway Station and only about 200 meters from the metro station, making it incredibly convenient for getting around. 2. **Outstanding service:** The service was unbeatable. From the front desk to the door attendants and cleaning staff, everyone was incredibly warm and welcoming. 3. **Great soundproofing:** Although our family room directly faced the railway tracks, the double-glazed windows provided excellent sound insulation. We barely heard any train noise at night. Now, the cons: 1. **Outdated facilities:** As it's an older, state-run hotel, many facilities are slow to be updated. For example, there's no laundry room or robot delivery service. 2. **Uncomfortable bed:** The bed, which was a spring mattress type, was too soft, making for a slightly uncomfortable sleep. 3. **Inflexible service policy:** The service philosophy felt a bit rigid. For instance, I had redeemed 5 breakfast vouchers through the booking platform for a four-day stay: two on the first day and one each for the subsequent three days. I later wanted to use all the vouchers within the first two days and then skip breakfast for the rest of my stay. However, multiple attempts to communicate this were unsuccessful; they insisted on adhering to the predetermined daily allocation. Additionally, while Ctrip stated that breakfast was free for children aged 17, the hotel charges based on height. I'm unsure where this discrepancy lies. All in all, being able to book a hotel like this in such a prime Shanghai location makes it highly recommendable. I sincerely hope they can make some appropriate improvements.

Clean, modern hotel. Enjoyed it a lot. Especially the morning breakfast was beyond my expectations! Definitely recommend!

Great value. Had a midnight flight out of Shanghai and this hotel was the perfect place to store my bags, shower and rest up prior to the flight. Didn’t actually sleep there overnight but the room seemed very comfortable and quite spacious for the price.

the room smelled a lot of sigarettes, the walls had dark lines. The shower door was not closing properly and so the whole bathroom was flooded. You dont hear a lot the trains during the day and the nights are quiet (i was on floor 8) The only good thing is the position

The hotel is just a 5mins away from ShangHai Railway and ShangHai Station. Convenient location. The staff is friendly, helped me to carry luggage and the hotel is free to upgrade my room for me. Clean room. I'm asking for a refill body wash, the staff sent me within 5 mins. Very good service. The hotel provides luggage storage, I left my luggage there for a few hours and went shopping again.
