Grand Hyatt Shanghai

I was particularly impressed by the hotel's understated yet meticulous service style. They don't try too hard to please, but all the basic services are delivered perfectly. The hotel's public lounge areas are elegantly decorated; you can sit down, rest, and chat, and the environment is very comfortable and pleasant. Even if you don't leave the hotel, you can still have a great leisure experience, which really enhanced the overall enjoyment of my stay.

Staying at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai was a highlight of my trip to the city. The hotel occupies the upper floors of the Jin Mao Tower in Lujiazui, with the reception located on the 54th floor. The atrium area from the 57th floor upwards offers incredible photo opportunities. Even after nearly 30 years since its opening, many of the facilities and details still reflect its original grandeur. It's impressive how it remains luxurious and avant-garde even today. The hotel's location is incredibly convenient, being very close to Lujiazui metro station and surrounded by numerous shopping malls. As one of the iconic 'Lujiazui Three Towers' itself, the night views from the room are simply stunning. Overall, a fantastic experience.

The in-room air conditioning and temperature control system are easy and flexible to adjust, allowing me to set my most comfortable temperature at any time. The living experience was impeccable. The hotel's service training is exceptionally thorough; all staff members clearly understand their roles and responsibilities, carrying out their duties efficiently and orderly. Taxis are readily available nearby, with vehicles always waiting right outside the hotel, making it very convenient to travel to all areas of Shanghai. For tourists with tight schedules, this significantly saves travel time and greatly improves sightseeing efficiency.

I wasn't going to leave a review, but since the guest services team messaged me asking for one, I'll comment on a few things: 1. **View**: As one of Pudong's iconic buildings, the hotel offers excellent views. Being on a high floor, you get great panoramic views of the Bund and other Pudong buildings, especially at night – truly impressive. 2. **Service**: The concierge staff's attitude was generally quite lukewarm with every inquiry. I'm not sure why they seemed so arrogant. From storing luggage initially to borrowing an umbrella, it felt like I owed them something. Perhaps they were overwhelmed by too many guests, but it felt like customers were a constant bother and unwelcome. The front desk staff's service was similar; their attitude felt below the average standard of other high-end hotels we've stayed at. 3. **Cleanliness**: Upon entering the room, the floor wasn't very clean. I'm unsure if it had been properly cleaned. 4. **Hardware**: The overall hardware conditions were good. The elevators were fast, and both hotel and room facilities were comprehensive. 5. **Responsiveness to requests during stay**: * First, we asked for two children's bathrobes. We were told to wait a while for staff to bring them. Twenty minutes passed with no update. When we called again, they said they currently had no spare bathrobes but had forgotten to inform us, leaving us to wait a long time for nothing. * Second, we requested an extra blanket, which was delivered promptly. 6. **Dining**: The buffet on the 56th floor had a relatively rich selection of dishes. However, the service staff (both those at the food stations and those clearing tables) again had generally mediocre attitudes. 7. **Swimming Pool**: The pool isn't large, and the water was a bit cool. There weren't many tourists, so the experience was decent. The changing room's hardware was good, though it felt a bit cold. 8. **Gym**: While not very spacious, the equipment was quite comprehensive. Most of the treadmill screens displayed 'no signal.' 9. **Highlight**: The 86th-floor Jin Mao Club Chinese restaurant was excellent. The food was great; I particularly recommend the Australian crispy veal. What's more, the service staff there had an outstanding attitude. We arrived quite late, around 9 PM, due to closure at 9:15 PM. The waitress quickly offered menu suggestions and waited until we finished our meal, providing very thoughtful service. She even suggested we could turn off the lights to enjoy the night view afterward. It's a shame I don't know her name (the waitress on duty on the evening of August 9th), but I want to commend her; she was the only highlight of our entire stay. 10. **Final thoughts**: It's a bit ironic that the hotel's guest services team added me on WeChat the day before check-in, didn't send any greetings during our stay, but then suddenly messaged me before check-out, offering to draft a positive review for me to post here. So, since you asked for a review, either we don't comment, or we comment truthfully. If the stay experience had truly been great, we would, of course, give a five-star review, but I can't give five stars against my conscience :)

The hotel's exterior and views are indeed excellent, making it worthwhile to experience Shanghai's night scenery. However, there are simply too many guests, so checking in and having breakfast both involve long waits and queues, especially check-in, which isn't available until 3 PM. The front desk staff were helpful in storing luggage for guests waiting to check in. Taxis are easy to hail, and there are many shopping malls nearby and within close proximity. The air conditioning was very cool.

I felt very secure with the service and security control at this hotel. Check-ins and check-outs were handled professionally, and staff were always present. The overall atmosphere was elegant and quiet, free from noise and crowds. After a busy day of sightseeing, returning to the hotel and having a completely peaceful time to relax by myself was fantastic. The view from the window was especially nice.

The guest rooms are well-maintained; despite being open for many years, the hardware is clean and looks brand new. The marble bathroom is spotless, and there are no signs of wear on the furniture. The air conditioning is remarkably quiet, and the temperature control is highly responsive, allowing for precise adjustments to the ideal temperature. Both down and memory foam pillows are provided, which can be swapped out as needed, ensuring a restful night's sleep that completely washes away any travel fatigue.

Taking advantage of a holiday, I brought my child to Shanghai for a few days, and the overall service at the Grand Hyatt Jin Mao truly impressed us. From the moment we walked in, we felt a genuine warmth. Whether it was asking for directions or seeking advice on local attractions, the staff enthusiastically shared practical tips. The hotel's environment is elegantly maintained, transportation is convenient, and the room comfort is excellent. My friend and I had a very pleasant vacation here, and the overall experience was fantastic.
