Golden Tulip Shanghai Hong Qiao

After taking my kids to the TNT concert and exploring Shanghai for another day, I came here to revisit some old memories. Hongqiao Hotel, an old-school Shanghai hotel, was renovated, renamed, and then reverted to its original name, Hongqiao Hotel, in recent years. It really brings back so many memories! The renovated Hongqiao Hotel looks brand new, with playful colors and charming amenities, which is very refreshing. The facilities are also new, including USB charging ports. The design is very user-friendly, with a wet/dry separation in the bathroom. Perhaps because it's located in Shanghai's business district, I guess the CBD area, there are quite a few foreigners here. The key thing is that it offers great value for money. During the TNT concert, many of their fans stayed here, and it's only about a 20 RMB Didi ride from Shanghai Stadium, which is very convenient. Nearby, there's the L'Avenue shopping mall and The Place shopping mall, as well as Metro Line 2. A bit further away is Yili Road Station on Metro Line 10, which is also very convenient. If you're looking for a hotel that offers good value and convenient transportation, I recommend this place.

I ended up staying an extra day here due to the typhoon in Shanghai, and I truly didn't want to leave. The cozy interior design and warm service completely lifted my spirits, which had been dampened by the stormy weather.

The room was very clean. I couldn't leave Shanghai for the National Day holiday in 2021, so I stayed at this hotel for 5 days. The breakfast was quite rich, and the crayfish for the dinner buffet was 148 yuan.

The room size was average, nothing special. The cleaning staff were all very nice. Breakfast was just okay, but it's good value for money.

My stay exceeded expectations. The hotel's convenient location made getting around a breeze. The front desk staff were quick with check-in and had a gentle, patient attitude. The room was incredibly clean and tidy, with soft, comfortable bedding and a full set of toiletries. The bathroom had a great wet/dry separation and no unpleasant odors. The overall environment was quiet, not noisy, ensuring a great night's sleep, and the facilities were well-maintained. The value for money is excellent. I'll definitely choose this place again for future trips and highly recommend it!

The room was clean, tidy, comfortable, and hygienic. The location is excellent, with convenient transportation as the subway is right next door. Dining options are also very easy and quick to find. My colleagues usually choose this hotel when traveling for business.

I booked online and checked in upon arrival, only to find the room door lock was faulty – it could be opened without a key card. As a solo traveler, this meant my personal safety and belongings were completely unprotected. I immediately went to the front desk to request a room change, but the staff informed me the hotel was fully booked and no other rooms were available. They only offered to send a maintenance person to fix it. A working door lock is a fundamental security feature for any accommodation. The hotel providing a faulty room in the first place is a violation. The hotel being fully booked is an operational issue that shouldn't force guests to endure the mental burden of staying in a room with a broken lock all night. It was only after I stood my ground that they finally relented and said they could find another room (by this point, an hour had passed since I first checked in). Throughout the entire process, no one offered me a glass of water, and the staff's attitude during communication was indifferent, completely disregarding my safety concerns as a guest. I paid for a safe and comfortable stay, yet even basic hardware like the room door lock couldn't be guaranteed. I will not be staying here again and do not recommend it to others. Book with caution.

As an older hotel, the service is still relatively good. The rooms seem to have been renovated, and the city view is nice. The parking lot is above ground, but there aren't many spaces.
