Renaissance Stays in Shanghai

This five-star Marriott hotel boasts an excellent location, less than 100 meters walk from Zhongshan Park Metro Station, making it incredibly convenient for reaching the city center shopping districts and Hongqiao Airport. The hotel was renovated in 2020, and its glass curtain wall exterior looks modern under the sun. The lobby features marble paired with gold artistic patterns and even jade sculptures, with high ceilings that give the whole space a luxurious yet grand feel. Facilities are comprehensive. The indoor heated pool has clean water and an ideal temperature, perfect for a morning workout swim or a relaxing evening dip. The 24-hour gym offers a wide variety of well-maintained, new equipment, catering to diverse fitness needs. The guest rooms offer fantastic views, with some room types overlooking the vibrant cityscape of Shanghai. The room decor is simple yet elegant, and the bedding and bathroom amenities are standard Marriott quality, ensuring a comfortable stay. Check-in is also very efficient, with no long waits. Whether for a business trip or a leisure vacation, if you're planning to explore the Changning District, this hotel would be an excellent choice.

We stayed at Renaissance Shanghai Putuo at the end of November and honestly loved our time there. We booked the Premier Room and it was so spacious — perfect for a family with one child. The bath tub was such a plus too, especially after long days of exploring. One of our favourite parts was the indoor heated pool. Even in fall/winter, we could still enjoy swimming every day, and the jacuzzi/whirlpool was amazing. A huge shoutout to the staff who take care of the swimming facilities — they were so kind and even made handmade origami birds to entertain my son. Such a sweet touch! We stayed for 10 days and really enjoyed the area too. The underground metro is just a few steps away, and the food choices downstairs are endless. Super convenient for families. Overall, a lovely stay — spacious room, warm staff, great facilities, and the perfect location for exploring Shanghai. Highly recommend for families ❤️✨

I booked this hotel for easier access to the Yu Garden lantern festival, and it truly was incredibly convenient! It's just a 650-meter walk from the hotel exit (according to my navigation). I checked in on the 6th day of the ***** New Year and checked out on the 7th, at the tail end of the Spring Festival holiday. There were still plenty of tourists from other parts of China, Hong Kong, Macau (Guangdong), and abroad. Hotel guest parking is charged at 20 RMB for 24 hours. When we arrived, the underground garage was full, so staff directed us to park in one of the limited ground-level spots at the hotel entrance. A staff member warmly guided us to the elevator to the L floor for check-in at the hotel lobby. Breakfast is also on the L floor, opposite the front desk. However, the young male staff member at the front desk who handled my check-in significantly soured my impression of the hotel. There weren't many people checking in yesterday, but he maintained a gloomy expression the whole time. Even if it wasn't directed at us, as first-time guests, it left a poor initial impression of the hotel. Furthermore, for a twin room costing over 1200 RMB, I had requested a higher floor, non-smoking, and close to the elevator. We were given a room on the 10th floor, facing north, directly above the Fuyou Road small commodities market. For a price over 1200 RMB, the value for money felt genuinely low. The hotel breakfast was very ordinary, nothing particularly memorable. You'd expect an established Shanghai five-star hotel to have its own unique culinary features, but the Renaissance's breakfast really didn't stand out. After scanning our room card for breakfast, a server did guide us to a table, which was nice. However, I noticed that the servers seemed to treat guests differently. Our table was by the window, quiet, exactly what I wanted. But they seated a family of four from India, who arrived later, at a six-person table right by the service staff's work area entrance/exit. If I were them, I'd feel a bit unwelcome and discriminated against. The complimentary Yu Garden tickets weren't actually for the core, paid area of Yu Garden during the Spring Festival and Lantern Festival period. They were just general Yu Garden tickets, so we didn't use them. We still had to buy our own tickets to enter Yu Garden. Overall, this Ctrip booking experience was poor, and it left me with a bad impression of the Renaissance.

The room was quite spacious, and there were plenty of mirrors, which was convenient. Facilities: It's been renovated, but the toilet was a bit unusual, and the bathtub was very small. Environment: The location is excellent, convenient for getting anywhere. It's also less than a 30-minute drive to Disneyland, making it very suitable for families with children. Service: The service was exceptional. Even though it was very busy with many guests, the staff never showed any impatience. The complimentary breakfast and dinner were such a great deal! I would definitely come back again. The semi-buffet hot pot dinner for two from Sunday to Thursday, and the buffet dinner for two on Friday and Saturday: Even if purchased at full price, it's a great value, but it's an even better deal as part of the package!

The room was spacious with two 1.4-meter beds, which was perfectly comfortable for two people. The bathroom facilities were excellent, and the breakfast was especially nice too.

Really love how the staff were so attentive and helpful during our stay. The hotel has good facilities especially the gym room. Counter staffs were great and facilitated our check in and check out process so smoothly. Kudos to them and the cleaning ladies who made our holiday a pleasant one.
