This hotel, chosen on a whim at the end of an eight-day trip, unexpectedly offered a room and experience that exceeded all expectations.
**Facilities**: The hotel seems to be relatively new, as both the rooms and the overall facilities are very modern. The only minor downside is the lack of an elevator, but the staff are incredibly helpful with luggage. The rooms also feature a fairly new diffuse oxygen supply system, which is very reassuring.
**Design**: The overall style is remarkably consistent, and the details hold up well under scrutiny. It's not one of those mass-produced, overly ornate yet impractical designs.
**Location**: It's about a 3-5 minute walk to Moonlight Square, which is quite convenient. It has that 'quiet in the midst of bustle' feel, and entering the ancient city is just around a corner. Plus, from my third-floor room, I had a beautiful view of Dukezong outside the window.
**Service**: The service was incredibly thoughtful, from the welcoming upon arrival to the room introduction, and even the drop-off at the station at 6:30 AM – it all made me feel very much at ease.
My only regret is that my time in Shangri-La was too short to fully experience everything. But based on the service, attention to detail, design, location, and value for money, I highly recommend this hotel.
