To everyone reading this review: BOOK THIS HOMESTAY IMMEDIATELY.
I’ve traveled through 12 cities in China, but this is the only place I genuinely want to come back to. First of all, they have a bidet spray AND a bidet toilet seat — which honestly deserves a solid 10/10 on its own. Second, you will NOT believe how incredibly thoughtful the staff are. They gave me a welcome gift — a scarf featuring Shangri-La’s traditional design. When I told them I had to check out early to catch my 7 AM train, they prepared a little breakfast bag for me to take along. And do you know what’s even more special?
THEY SPEAK ENGLISH FLUENTLY, which makes everything SO easy. Third, they have the sweetest dog named Bhala (if I remember the name correctly), and honestly, having Bhala around made me miss my dogs back home a lot less. Fourth, the homestay is located right inside the old town, but taxis can still drive all the way to the entrance. You don’t have to climb steep slopes or walk a long way to some random pickup point. It literally couldn’t be more convenient. Fifth, the room feels incredibly cozy and has everything you need. The whole homestay gives you this really nice shared-house vibe. The only downside is that the bathroom isn’t very well-lit, which can be a little inconvenient for girls who need to do their makeup. Sixth — and this is VERY IMPORTANT — their female staff are genuinely so energetic, friendly, and adorable. 😂❤️You can also ask the homestay to help you book trips to destinations that are farther away, such as Bottomless Lake, Meili Snow Mountain, Pudacuo, etc., and they can arrange it for you without any extra fee.
So overall: 1000/10. I honestly couldn’t have asked for more. Booking this homestay was the best decision I made during my entire Yunnan trip. Nothing else came close.
