The Avenue

Wow! What can we say? We all had (3 of us parents and daughter)a beautiful stay at the Avenue in Shanklin. Simon and Jonathan were very, very welcoming, polite and very obliging. Their b&b is very comfortable, homely and very cosy. They couldn’t do any more for us. The breakfasts we had were outstanding and very tasty. We would recommend staying here 110%! Thank you for all your lovely talks too! We are hoping to book again soon!

Very nice hotel. Best breakfast I have had at any establishment. Fruit salad made fresh every day. Excellent hosts, very attentive and we were made to feel very welcome. Small negatives we were at the top oh the hotel and I found the narrow steep stairs a bit challenging. Radiator did not work in the room but we were given a heater. Cobwebs in the corner and had to keep the window shut when it rained as the guttering was leaking. Would I stay here again definitely.

We stayed at the Avenue for 3 nights and would definitely recommend. This was our first visit to the Isle of Wight so we certainly chose well with this B&B! Simon and Jonathan were brilliant hosts, friendly and informative and the breakfast was fabulous! Our room was very spacious and clean with lots of wardrobe space and large comfortable bed and although we didn't get round to using it the honesty bar was a nice touch. The Avenue is in an ideal location for both the old village and the esplanade and both bus and train stations are close by. Would definitely stay again.

Located by the train and bus stations, within an easy walk of the old town and esplanade this makes an ideal place to stay in Shanklin. Food is impeccable, all dietary requirements are catered for and the fresh fruit salad is outstanding. The freshly cooked breakfast is wonderful, and I agree with an earlier review that the scrambled eggs are fantastic. Similarly my husband asked for hard poached eggs - no issue they were perfect. Simon and Johnathon are incredibly welcoming, but a little too intense. I really don't need to be reminded to use sun cream. Having said that the amount of local information they provide is brilliant. Our Room number 4 had more than enough storage space for the week and the fluffy towels were lovely. A little more attention to detail on dusting would be appreciated - we put our suitcase on the top of the wardrobe and it came down covered in dust. I moved the bedside cabinet to get to the plug socket and there was thick dust and sweet wrappers behind the cupboard. It's tiny things like this that stop me giving a 5.

The staff truly made my wife & I extremely welcome & comfortable from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble & will definitely return next time we are in the area.

On arrival the owners were friendly and helpful which continued throughout the whole stay. Room was spotlessly clean and well presented. Breakfast was tasty with a good variety of hot and cold options. Honestly could not find a single negative at this location and look forward to visiting again

Lovely Guest House spotlessly clean and the owner Simon and his son Jonathon were extremely attentive and very helpful advising us of things to do and busses to use. The bedroom was clean and well decorated. Breakfast was top notch with a wide choice of "one or two" of whatever you fancied. There is also an "honesty bar" if you want to relax over a drink.

I have just return from the break we had and stayed at The Avenue. I went with my parents and they are not easily pleased but I can tell you the standard of hospitality you receive here from Simon and his son is beyond outstanding. This was perfect for us in every way, an amazing breakfast where my vegan needs were happily catered to, cleanliness, layout, all facilities they have gone above and beyond. I recommend this whole heartedly. They are the most attentive and hospitable hosts of all time!

Fantastic stay, the father and son owners know good customer service and we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. The breakfast was great, every day everything was cooked fresh.
