Best Shimoda Hotels

"I will definitely come back here next time I visit Shimoda. Facilities: Although old, it's incredibly clean, with absolutely no musty smell typical of old hotels. It's very well-maintained. Hygine: Excellent. Both the rooms and the bathhouse are spotless. Environment: The hotel is located in a private bay, perfect for a self-drive vacation. I'd love to try the beachside bathhouse in the summer sometime. Service: Exceptional, the best service experience I've had on this entire trip. They didn't treat us any differently even though we were foreigners. Breakfast: This deserves a special mention – the breakfast is incredibly rich and delicious. If you love hotel breakfasts, you must try it. Many guests went back four or five times, and there were several options for the same type of food."

"The room is large and fully equipped! The bathroom, washroom and toilet are all separate. It's close to the seaside and about eight or nine minutes' walk from the station. It's also relatively easy to go shopping nearby, with plenty of food and drinks. Very good value for money. It is best to put a dehumidifier in the room, as the humidity is higher at the beach, especially in this season."

"You definitely need a car to get to this accommodation, but the rooms are top-notch. I chose a room with a private open-air bath, and the view of the ocean was spectacular. I also took a walk around the small island just as the sun was setting, and it was absolutely beautiful! The dinner was also very generous and featured local flavors, definitely worth trying!"

"First of all, I would like to thank Ms. Yang at the front desk. Her sincere and enthusiastic introduction to the surrounding attractions and transportation was very helpful. Her attentive service definitely left a good first impression. The room was also very comfortable and clean, with all the necessary amenities. Our booked room had a private bath overlooking the sea, allowing us to relax whenever we wanted. Since we didn't have a car this time, it's about a ten-minute walk from JR Shimoda Station to the hotel. I recommend those with large luggage drive to the hotel or take a taxi. Regarding the meals, breakfast and dinner were both kaiseki cuisine, exquisite and plentiful. The only downside was that while dinner was different on the first two nights, it was the same on the third night, and we couldn't pay extra to change to other dishes. It felt a bit inflexible, but not a major issue. Overall, I would still highly recommend it!"

"The room was spacious and quiet. The front desk staff spoke Japanese and English and were very friendly. The view was also great, with the ocean right outside the window. You could hear the sound of the waves with the window open, but it was well soundproofed when closed. It had two beds and a large tatami mat, which could fit two people, making it a room for four in total. There's free parking, and the hotel was clean. The shower and bedroom were separated, which was a nice touch. Very satisfied."

"It's a very old-fashioned hotel. The air conditioner in the public area can't be turned on. It's not very hot. There is no toilet in the room. You need to walk to the public area. I happened to live on the second floor this time and had to carry my luggage up. There is no sense of service and the hotel is also No meals are provided. If you arrive late, you can only buy instant noodles from a nearby supermarket."

"The service was very good and the place is amazing. Nevertheless they didn’t allow us to have dinner or breakfast in the hotel as they said it was fully booked, and when requested for late check in we were asked to pay more. It would have been expected to be able to at least check in a bit later since we couldn’t enjoy the dinner or breakfast in the hotel and was inconvenient."

"Amazing place to stay,aesthetic view and a great amazing dinner and breakfast ambience. I choose and booked the private villa with pool and which is good,I enjoyed the dinner foods they served us,so classy and elegant presentation. So I ordered the bottle of botega champagne which is fit for the foods they offered. Lovely it was and amazing wonderful evening. After we had a night pool with my partner and we bring our own foods and drinks champagne for the long night to celebrate our stay. I’m very satisfied for my stay at this place. Staff was really nice and good at their service. Perfect 👌 I love to came back again soon… Thank you so much 🤞🏻❣️"

"I stayed for two nights. He was Kowamote's older brother, but his tone was gentle and basically polite. I dropped something behind the sofa and moved it, but I cleaned it firmly. Unfortunately I couldn't do bbq because I didn't seem to be in good condition, but I want to challenge it when I'm in good shape again. It's a good place! Recommended"
