Berkeley River Lodge

The pristine location speaks magic for itself but the exceptional staff at Berkeley River Lodge make that magic all the more remarkable. Dempsey not only kept my phone alive charging it from his laptop but went above & beyond calling up Kununurra for my left behind phone adaptor, finding it and getting it flown to the Lodge the very next day! Every other staff member we mixed with were also outstanding. I fished 30 years ago with a handline but Scoot immediately made me feel at ease with a rod and kept us all entertained with breezy banter and deftly up to speed with fresh baited hooks, even another rod ready-to-go anytime someone lost the lot snagging a rock. The wining and dining crew are top-shelf; coffees & wines are excellent. Everything served with a jovial ambience .... shout out to Jet, Anna & Hanna! Cuisine is exquisite, from the barramundi salad to the fish curry and the duck confit were all choice .... + many others, thanks Izzy! Absolute highlight was the helicopter flight to mesmerising rock art, swimming in a stunning waterhole (Atlantis) and sensational views, especially of King George River, the canyon and falls + crocs, sharks & stingrays. Gaz has a consummate wealth of knowledge re the Bradshaws & Wandjinas we witnessed, the geology and history of the Kimberley, its flora & fauna and a damn fine pilot! Four hours well spent. To Pete, who made our 4WD beach tour unforgettable ... finding fresh croc tracks, walking safely along this remote coast our shadows taller than our soul and sunset drinks by the pandanus lounge! The only con was having such an early checkout on the last day. We had to have our bags packed and outside by 7.15am and vacate the villa by 7.40 .... the usual 10am checkout would be hugely helpful and highly appreciated to round off a brilliant stay at this superb location.

Fantastic from all aspects staff,food ,activities . The accommodation is very good quality and an experience in itself. All the staff are committed to the wilderness and nature and can really help you understand just how severe the country really is in the kimberley

From our arrival at Kimberley Air in Kununurra to the delivery back to Kununurra we wanted for nothing. The staff worked overtime to ensure all our needs were catered for. We made some great friendships and shared lots of laughs. The food and wines were excellent the tours were extremely well organised and fun. We opted to add the True North Sunset Helicopter trip which was one of the highlights. Gary, the pilot was very knowledgeable. A special thanks to Hannah and the front of house team who always seemed happy and ready to assist. Bruce was our tour leader on the boat cruise which was so informative and Peter took us on a wonderful hike. Thanks everyone for a great 5 night experience.

From the moment we got on the light aircraft from Kununurra, until we returned five days later, we were treated to the most amazing scenery, activities, food and beverages and relaxation. Set in a remote part of Australia and taking two years to construct, I felt privileged to be among those who could visit this amazing region. This Lodge is a must to visit and the all inclusive offers available are very good value. The lodge is open only 6 months of the year. Scenery, fishing, wildlife and bird life, optional scenic helicopter tours, boat trips, sunset tours Hiking trips, this lodge offers the lot all inclusive

Firstly, accept that this is a very remote location and there’s lots of red dirt! The Berkeley River Lodge all-inclusive package is fantastic and the tours — river cruise, hike, beach 4WD and sunset drinks, and fishing —- were really enjoyable. As others have said, the optional sunset helicopter tour is worth the cost. I was concerned about some recent reported issues with the chef/kitchen but all rectified by our stay — fantastic food! Cannot recommend this more highly!

Stunning location , The adventure begins the minute you board the plane . A scenic flight over a vast uninhabited landscape . River tributaries looking like giant inverted boab trees We were met by Dempsey and his team with welcome drinks and whisked away to the lodge . The villas are very comfortable and we were very fortunate to have views of both sunrise and sunset . I recommend a bath under the stars . We both enjoyed all the activities planned during our stay particularly the river cruise hike and fishing and have made many new friends The staff work tirelessly to ensure everyone’s needs are met The food was amazing and the degustation menus superbly planned, executed and delivered to 36 —40 guests .. Our only regret is not taking the helicopter trip …maybe next time

Fabulous holiday. You dont want for anything. Tours and guides were amazing. The front of house Staff were amazing friendly and knowledgeable, nothing was too hard. Great food and wine with wine to match the food. There is a little bit of maintenance to be done to freshen it up but its so remote, its on going in a very difficult environment. With th Kimberley dust all around white is soon brown, but all this does not diminish the whole experience , to me it’s a must and should be put in the bucket list.

Outstanding experience in a remote, secluded, pristine environment. Villas very comfortable. Nightly degustation meal a special feature. Excursions provided an opportunity to see the ancient land, waterways, flora and fauna. Photographed many unique birds on the Bush Drive. Highlight was the helicopter flight. Staff friendly and attentive. Enjoyed meeting people with different backgrounds and life experiences.

If you are reading this then you are probably thinking about going. MAKE THE BOOKING! You won’t regret it. It’s an amazing place in an awesome location, and you will be welcomed and cared for by an amazing team. From the moment you land at the air*****, with champagne to toast your arrival, until the minute you say goodbye with hugs for the staff who have called you by name for your entire stay, it’s just an amazing experience. It’s completely different to anywhere else we have stayed - and the countryside is the most beautiful you will see. No request was too much trouble for the amazing team, Issy’s food was first class, the excursions were great, and we enjoyed EVERY minute! Probably ate and drank more than we normally would though!
