I felt the value for money was poor. There's no elevator in the hotel, and the room amenities were limited to just sandals and toothbrushes. I had booked a room with a balcony, but was told they couldn't provide it and offered a room with a bathtub instead. This wasn't really an upgrade. The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful, though. Breakfast wasn't a buffet; you chose one item from a set menu, but it was delicious. The location is close enough to the city center for sightseeing, but it's a bit out of the way to the south, down a street with poor road conditions. I had stayed at a hotel in the same price range in Siem Reap until the day before, and I felt this hotel was inferior in terms of facilities, location, and service. I would have been satisfied if the price had been about 30% lower.

The property is secluded behind a walled garden; the road noise disappears as you walk through the gate, and the pool area remains peaceful even when the hotel is fully booked. I spent both afternoons by the pool, and the lush surroundings gave a feeling of being far away from the city, rather than right in the middle of it. What I hadn't expected was how special the garden would feel in the evening with the lighting, the vegetation, and the absence of traffic noise. If you are looking for a place that feels like a sanctuary after days of temple visits and not just a regular hotel room, this is an excellent choice.

From the moment I arrived, there was someone ready to help with my luggage, explain the facilities, and ask what I wanted to see; they then came up with suggestions that perfectly fit my itinerary. They arranged a tuk-tuk to Angkor Wat for sunrise, and when I mentioned I would be leaving early, a breakfast package was prepared for me without me even having to ask. The staff deserves a 9.5, and that score feels completely justified – certainly not exaggerated. Even the cleaning staff was cheerful. That's the difference between a hotel that simply does its job and one that leaves a lasting impression.

The hotel is a bit old, but the building itself is interesting. What's more, I didn't get the feeling that the owner was very enthusiastic. There was a TV, but no remote control. The next day, things like fresh towels weren't replenished. There were many such inconsiderate details.
