Maya Bistro Hotel & Beach

Rooms not the hit but the facility is great!

A wonderful week-long holiday in this fantastic, unique hotel. Being able to dine right by the sea, overlooking the cliffs, and enjoy the beautiful sunset is unique. The food was always delicious and freshly prepared. The service was outstanding! We were always served in a very friendly and welcoming manner. We would especially like to thank Nuri, and especially Yunus (he knows what he's talking about :-) Thank you both so much! A huge thank you also goes to all the other staff, the lovely ladies at breakfast, and of course the kitchen staff who conjure up all the delicious food. The food is always served at your table; there's no buffet. We liked that. The Turkish breakfast includes tea, bread, butter, jam, and honey, a cheese platter with three types of cheese, olives, tomatoes, and cucumbers, salad, a type of cream cheese, and a delicious dried tomato paste. You can choose between a boiled egg, an omelet, and scrambled eggs with tomato paste and paprika (a little different from what we're used to). It's the same every morning. We recommend eating à la carte, as the half-board menu offers a limited selection, and you'll end up repeating yourself after three days. And the price difference is probably not that great and bearable. The room was as described on the website. It's simple, but perfectly adequate for us. The different sides of the beach are also great: one is flat, sandy, and the other is the wilder, rocky side with direct access to deeper water. There were a few days with a lot of wind (once almost a gale). I was glad of that; without it, it would have been far too hot for me. Not everyone likes that, of course, but it's to be expected. You can use the pool and other facilities at the neighboring Atlantis Hotel. We didn't do that, but we strolled through the complex, and it all looked inviting. And Sığacık is, of course, definitely worth a visit. A truly idyllic, beautiful little town that can be reached in 10 minutes by dolmuş. The Teos archaeological site can be reached on foot in about 45 minutes (although there is also a bus service). But be sure to bring plenty of drinks, as there are none for sale there. If you want to explore the area further, a car is recommended. We've been to Turkey several times, but we've never enjoyed it as much as we did here. Precisely because it's a bit more authentic. If you enjoy independent travel and are looking for something unique, this is the place for you.

This complex is very nice, it offers a beach and a swimming pool. The restaurant is of excellent quality. Unfortunately, we were there in April this year and the temperature was really low. It is a bit far from the first village and very far from Izmir. It is good for a beach holiday only, but less practical if you want to do tourism.
