Even the air is filled with the scent of plants and trees. • The iconic wavy balconies are covered in bougainvillea. Looking up from the pool, it resembles a hanging aerial flower house suspended within a coconut grove. • The silver fish art installation in the lobby looks like an entire pond of tropical fish has been 'hooked' onto the ceiling. Every photo taken here is a masterpiece. 🛏️ Room: Vintage Elegance, You Won't Want to Get Up • The rooms boast the classic Shangri-La style: warm wooden furniture, bedding so soft you sink right in, and towels embossed with the brand's logo. Every detail exudes the ceremonial feel of old-school luxury. • The bathroom is spacious and bright, with exquisite amenities. Even a Nespresso capsule coffee machine is thoughtfully provided, making for a perfect start to your morning and instantly boosting your mood. • Open the window to a panorama of lush greenery. Occasionally, you might even spot red junglefowl strolling on the lawn, instantly transitioning you from city life to vacation mode. 🏊 Leisure: The Pool is a Secluded Sanctuary in the Coconut Grove • The expansive outdoor pool is surrounded by palm trees and tropical flowers. Lounging on a deckchair, listening to the fountain and birdsong, time seems to slow down. • The hotel also thoughtfully provides childcare and family activities, allowing parents with kids to truly relax and enjoy their own holiday. 🌟 Highlights Summary • Secluded yet Central: Located right next to Orchard Road, yet it feels like a tranquil oasis isolated from the hustle and bustle. • Detail-Oriented Delights: From the braille signage in the elevators to every amenity in the room, you can feel the dedication of this long-standing hotel. • Rich in History: As the birthplace of Shangri-La, every design element here tells the legendary story of the brand. If you ask me if I'd stay here again on my next visit to Singapore? The answer is: absolutely! After all, who can resist the feeling of waking up in a tropical garden, gently roused by coconut groves and birdsong?

Facilities: Overall, the hotel lobby and guest rooms show their age, but all basic needs are met. The room size is appropriate, and the balcony offers a great view. The in-room capsule coffee machine is a nice touch. The children's water park is a highlight; the kids loved it and spent a long time on the water slides. Getting around from the hotel is convenient. There's an island shuttle bus (BUS A) right outside the hotel, and the hotel provides a shuttle service to VivoCity. You can also take a shuttle bus to Palawan Beach from the beach area in front of the hotel. Cleanliness: Generally good, though the area around the pool isn't always cleaned promptly, and sometimes you'll see trash left by guests. Environment: The garden and beach are beautiful. In the evening, you can dine at the Italian restaurant by the sea, where both the food and the ambiance are excellent. Service: A S$200 deposit is collected nightly. Many staff members speak Chinese and are quite friendly and responsive. Our room was cleaned before 1 PM, and the front desk called to notify us for an early check-in. The staff at the indoor kids' club are very attentive, allowing adults to confidently leave their children to play. There's a small supermarket next to the hotel and a coconut smoothie shop that never has a queue. I think their smoothies are even better than Mr. Coconut's, so I recommend trying them. Overall, the hotel is more suitable for families with children, who will love the facilities and environment. Couples looking for a quiet holiday might find it a bit noisy.

We are with kids and back for summer holidays and stayed 23 nights. It’s a lovely big 1 br apartment with old school charm, but you’re guaranteed privacy as it’s not over populated, and yet you get access to Shangri-La hotel’s facilities! Location is good that it’s a short walk to orchard road though the pavement up and down the slope on orange grove isn’t the best for walking. The staff and service is the best here compared to even other 5 star hotels as they look after more familiar longer staying guests. Definitely would come back!
