Really bad experience. This review is regarding the hotel stay - did not eat at the pub - and it was a very poor experience and would not visit again. The experience was terrible from first impression to room facilities and staff. When trying to check in, we were completely ignored and left to stand in corner of the busy pub with our luggage. When eventually shown to our room, on first impression the room looked great value for money with modern amenities (£90/night ensuite with additional £10 pp for breakfast) - we dropped our luggage and headed out about town. However, in reality when we came back to the room in the evening it was horrible. The window was sealed shut so no air, no fan, the TV did not work, and there was no wifi. Tried to contact someone via phone, no answer, walked around the hotel/pub at 10.45 pm, no one available on site or via phone. Real concern for safety with no emergency contact - lack of TV/internet not an emergency, but a break-in could have been and no way to report it. The room, no 7, had a large gap under the door so could hear everything in hall and neighbouring rooms. Also, the bed linens extremely poor synthetic and scratchy. Worst nights sleep in a B and B that I've ever experienced. I understand that the hotel was recently refurbished, however, should not be charging the price when services are not yet available and while safety on site is at risk. I have tried repeatedly to contact the hotel via phone to discuss concerns but never get an answer, phone just rings out with no VM. Worst customer service I've experienced and would definitely say a big NO to anyone considering booking this hotel.

Change of ownership since our last visit but the welcome was as good. The breakfast arrangements were modified as their kitchen was being upgraded. We breakfasted across the road and were reimbursed the bill. It was our 50the anniversary and we were treated very well with glasses of Prosecco to keep us in the mood. All in all excellent sojourn.

A really warm and friendly welcome at The Bell in the great little town of Burgh Le Marsh with nothing too much trouble for our host Rachael. Continuing improvements to the property are being made and are noticeable every time I stay and now serving great breakfasts!

Lovely cottage, very cosy. Just at the back of the pub. Very quiet , nice pub and Chinese takeaway is a 2 minute walk. Local bus service also good if you don’t want to drive. Massive garden, would definitely go again

I had a three night stay at this hotel and will not be going back. The hotel staff are friendly however the room was shocking. The toilet seat broke twice as was wrong seat for the toilet. Damp on ceiling. Curtains held together with string so when tried to open then kept unhooking left them closed in the end. Gap under the bedroom door plugged with a towel. And on first day bathroom light was broken so it flashed on and off. The carpets in the hallways are filthy and the extractor fan in the bathroom was filthy. Bedroom was over the function room. No sound proofing so sound was awful and once the function over had to listen to the staff clearing up . Noise stopped at 00:40! Decor very dated and bathroom door kept jamming. Towels were thread bear at edges! Paid £70 a night !
