Very expensive and pretentious. While the rooms were sizable, clean, and nicely decorated, they were not worth $1,000 per night—-which is what the cost was once the taxes, resort fee, service fee, eco fee, etc. were added on. Since the resort is located far back in a mangrove area, it is not feasible to travel out of the resort for meals. We had several good meals at the resort, but other meals were not great. However, the cost of the meals was exorbitant, e.g. dinner for 3 adults and 1 child averaged $350 with no drinks; the least expensive bottle of wine was $120. Activities are rather limited and expensive, e.g. yoga class was $35; one hour massage was $575; mezcal tasting was $90 for sips of 3 types of mezcal, etc. Service was always pleasant but very slow. The water at the beach was chock full of sea**** and never more than 3 feet deep in the allowed “swimming” area.
