The Rampant Horse Inn

We arrived following a 3.5 hour drive from Oxford for the purpose of viewing Norfolk properties. We were allocated an en-suite room within the main building which was clean, tidy and comfortable. Before unpacking we discovered the entrance door was unable to lock. Sadly there were no other rooms available so we found accommodation elsewhere. The purpose of this review is to highlight the excellent customer service of the owner/ proprietor who immediately apologised and offered a substantial discount on the booking price. This was very kind but not suitable for our needs. She then offered a full refund. Sent an email to the booking company requesting a full refund with her sincere apologies. Her actions and friendliness were well appreciated so I can recommend this hotel on customer satisfaction alone.

Booked 2 Rooms on a Saturday night in June Location is fantastic and very central to the town Rooms were very good value for the area with free parking on site we had the standard double with ensuite and a double with shared bathroom. both rooms were clean and spacious, both rooms had tabletop fridge, small wall mounted flatscreen TV A kettle with ample Tea & Coffee provided and a cereal breakfast for the morning. Milk & Fresh Orange Juice in Jugs in the Fridge. Decor was very reasonable for the age of the building. The bathroooms were clean and functional. Shower in ensuite was very good Towels and soap were provided. Overall the accommodation was very good. The pub and staff is friendly and very pleasant. with a pool table, darts and a couple of Large 75" ish screens for liver sports Ruined by the noise... Would I stay again? If I could be sure that there would be no Live music until 00:25, followed by 30 minutes of very noisy exit doors as the pub emptied then it would be a definite yes. If you would like to retire to your room or need to get to sleep before 1am then this is not the place for you if there is live music on. We recorded constant levels of 80db in 1 of the rooms along with the floor vibrating with the base of the live band below, 82db in the corridor and the ensuite provided 63db of constant live music until 00:25 and it eventually went quiet just after 1am after the customers had vacated the building and local vicinity. Turn the music down a touch and close when you state you will close and you have a wonderful place to offer guests to stay.

The twin room was nice and roomy with clean ensuite shower room. The beds were comfy, we were warm, the heating was sufficient. Plenty of tea and coffee and cereal and orange juice left in the room. It was a steep climb up the stairs which put us off going down to ask for more milk which we could have done with for the cereal in the morning. Would have preferred some more healthy cereals than oversweetened ones and rice crispies. Would stay again for the Thursford Christmas Spectacular nearby. As others have said, the lady who we checked in with was not welcoming and did not show us to the room.
