Absolutely outstanding place, all the details, the logs for the fire in our room, the complimentary sherry. We had breakfast and our dinner here, lovely selection of breakfast and the pigeon starter & beef cheek was so tender and delicious. Really happy with our stay!

We went for Christmas. We picked Augill pretty much with a pin because we thought it might be fun. It turned out one of the best Christmases we've had. I was nervous of sitting down to dinner with a roomful of strangers but Wendy somehow managed to make us feel we were guests at a country house party. Lovely people, excellent food and a wonderful atmosphere. Augill is an early example of the Victorian fashion for building fake castles and it is a particularly fine specimen. If you want a real castle, it's a short walk from the rather splendid Brough Castle, which is worth a visit. I really can't praise Augill enough. It's a fantastic place for a special holiday.

A wonderful relaxed place to stay. Augill Castle feels like a home that just happens to be a castle ,rather than a castle that’s been turned into a commercial hotel. We stayed in a room with four poster bed and its own fireplace, just perfect with a log also supplied for the fire. Breakfast , evening meal and afternoon tea were all very good and would happily visit again and do the same. Plenty of space on the ground floor in different rooms to relax and have a drink or outside the front of the castle. All very relaxed. The castle isn’t perfect, it’s lived in and very authentic. Some doors may stick a bit, floors a bit wonky and creeks but that’s what makes this place special. Also a big thank you to Wendy and her team, all warm, friendly and attentive but in a more relaxed informal way. Look forward to returning in the future.

We enjoyed the afternoon tea experience. Lovely accommodating staff. The building and grounds are spectacular too. Not over faced with food, it was just enough and tasted delicious. We will return and comes highly recommended to anyone interested in eating or staying here.

This was our 2nd time as a large family group staying at Augill Castle. This time it was for my husband's 50th birthday. I can honestly say we had the best time. Again. Jude and Joanne looked after us from the moment we arrived. We had his birthday meal in the Drawing Room. Jude put our decorations up for us and the room looked fab. Everyone made us feel welcome. My son has ADHD and can be a bit fussy with his food. This wasn't an issue and he ate well all weekend. We love coming here and will definitely be back. Thank you again!

Super Afternoon Tea . Just partook of a pre booked afternoon tea experience at Augill Castle. This was winter and after we had been cheerfully welcomed, we were shown to a room with warming log burners keeping it cosy. We were soon served with our coffee pot. The food stand soon followed. The savory "level" included hot sausage rolls and cups of likely homemade, excellent parsnip soup. There was far more than adequate amounts of jam and cream to go with the the warm fruit scones. More coffee was offered without a request and the cake "level" was also homemade and excellent. We travelled a round trip of 80 miles for our afternoon tea and do not regret a single yard.

Beautiful afternoon tea of ham salad brioches, mini prawn salad, plenty of freshly baked cakes and tea and coffee. A quirky out of the way castle full of interesting things to look at and comfortable furnishings to lounge on. We were made to feel at home straight away with a friendly welcome. Def worth a second visit.

The castle was the fairytale setting for our daughter's wedding. Wendy and her wonderful team ensured the day was perfect from start to finish. The food was exceptional; rooms were quirky and comfortable; the setting was magical and the team were friendly and eager to help in any way. We could not recommend them highly enough. Thank you so much to Wendy and everyone at Augill Castle.
