Lower your footprint and truly unplug in this rustic, OFF GRID, no electricity, no running water, no Wi-Fi forest house nestled in the trees on a tranquil island. 9Mile Eco house is within walking distance to many beaches, trails & nature including all her elements; birds, bugs, owls, deer etc. Make it base camp to the Olympics, Port Townsend & more. We recommend booking with us if you want a superbly located, "green" experience moreover than just a place to sleep. Many liken the Eco House to "camping with comfy furniture".SLEEP INSIDE*Climb the STEEP ladder to the loft where a full size bed with linens awaits*Living room sofabed converts into a fullsize bed with linens stored underneathSLEEP OUTSIDE*Full size bed sheltered inside the sleeping hut *Twin size swing bed sways with the breeze on the covered porch** Please let me know in advance if you will be using ALL beds (5 people max/additional fees will apply) so I can assure comfy linens are present for all during your stay. KITCHEN*4 burner propane (included) camp cooktop (no oven)*Gravity fed dishwashing sink station uses nonpotable water, towels and soap provided*Potable water available via a garden spigot by the chicken coop*Cookware, utensils, dinnerware, french press, salt, pepper, oil, spices, coffee, tea, most essentials included*No fridge but we can make a cooler available upon requestOFF GRID ALTERNATIVE SYSTEMS*Lighting is provided via battery powered bulbs in traditional lights, one in the kitchen, one in the living room, one upstairs. *Heating comes by way of the wood stove. Without fires in the winter, it will be chilly so pack warmly and keep a fire going or it won’t be comfortable. * A battery bank for recharging light bulbs and or personal devices. when its dead, its dead so conserve usage!CHARCOAL FIRED SOAKING TUBS + SUMMER COLD PLUNGE**burn ban permitting, check regs! July/August are typically cold plunge months***Please read instructions thoroughly BEFORE use. Failure to do so can result in damage and associated fees or additional charges.~2 communal tubs located each in their own private forest setting**BRING YOUR OWN CHARCOAL**~Self serve, works just like a charcoal BBQ.~With monitoring /stoking comes to temp in 2-3 hrs~Sign up sheet reserves your private time~Robes, towels + firestarters for tubs with written instructionsMANAGING EXPECTATIONS:Every off grid set up it unique, ours is no exception. The experience is simple and real with no modern-day conveniences such as Alexa, vacuum cleaners, pressure washers or hot water this is what nature looks like (ok we do use a little elbow grease but hey I'm pretty sure they had that a hundred years ago!) Headlamps and personal flashlights are a must as there are multiple stairs/entrances and rugged uneven terrain. Warm sturdy clothing and layers are a good idea as well. Cell reception is weak but you usually can get/receive texts and the occasional call. Any mobility issues could make this stay not a good fit as access to the only 'traditional' style bed is via a very steep ladderThe property is shared with others however the spaces are nicely separated and each has its own private outdoor areas.COMMON AREAS~ Similar to a campground the rentals do share a regularly serviced portable toilet unit with hand washing sink station adjacent.~No shower onsite. If you're a shower a day person the state park; Fort Flagler at the northern tip of the island has coin operated showers or down by the general store there's a dock where you can jump in the bay! ~Purchase firewood and charcoal from the VW bus farmstand. Peruse the free book library, borrow a game or puzzle, reserve your hot soak, grab some 9Mile merch, forgot your s'mores fixins? dont worry we got you covered!! this can all be done at the bus. Take care of incidentals V-mo me at: sarah-mortensen-10~fill your potable water bottles from the garden spigot next to the chicken coop~Locate the trails to the tubs just up from the sink/potti~Across from farmstand and coop is a large communal fire ring for larger gatherings (burn ban permitting)~Hike the properties 5 acres either by trail or bushwhack your own! The entire property is use at you and any of your guests own risk, one of our only requests as landlord is we do ask that you sign a waiver/release acknowledging this.We are happy to greet you upon arrival and give you a small tour to familiarize yourself, If this is something you would like please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate. We emphasize that the property is yours to share in its entirety for both you(cabin) and the other rental (tent)renters alike (and in the interest of full disclosure an occasional owl, deer, forest mouse, mosquito, bee, spider, snail, bat or slug will undoubtedly make an appearance).9Mile Eco House experience may not be for everyone if you are uneasy without your wifi, running water or really any modern day conveniences, or on the contrary if bugs make you fidget, the quiet makes you nervous and you can't roll with occasionally unforecasted wind/fog/rain this may not be your cup of tea, and thats ok!. The cabin is a work in progress and cannot be fully secured(locked). It is made mostly from reclaimed building materials, a steep ladder may make the loft inaccessible to some and has things like antique windows that don't fully latch, bugs get in, hot air gets out. Be honest with yourself, does this listing sound intriguing or terrifying? if the latter please rethink before booking. Please understand that the camp is undergoing constant improvements & various projects may be underway during your visit. We try to keep it tidy but realistically that just isn't always possible.About pets:Pets allowed: limit 2 total.About checkOut:Check out before 11:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.About checkIn:Check in after 4:00 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.About minBookingAge:Minimum age to rent: 18.About events:No events allowed.

This is an early 1900s waterfront farmhouse with lots of character and vintage charm. The glassed in-front porch allows you to kick back and enjoy the picturesque views of Mystery Bay in any weather. We have fast wifi and a blue-ray player. Three wonderful parks close by, two within one mile. We are 16 miles from the beautiful seaport city of Port Townsend, known for music, dining, art galleries, parks, etc. We are about 20 minutes to Port Ludlow and around 40 minutes to 7 cedars casino in Sequim. The house has two bedrooms in the main house with queen beds. The third bedroom is a converted utility room that is separated from the main house by the entry hall. It has a twin-size bed and a private 1/4 bath. The kitchen comes stocked with hopefully everything you might need to cook with, both a drip coffee maker and an espresso maker. I keep coffee, sugar, and dry creamer stocked. Fort Flagler state park is about 2 1/2 miles away and East Beach and Mystery Bay State Park are less than a mile. East Beach Park does not require a pass and is one of the nicest beaches around for walking and for kids to play in the sand. We are kid friendly and have a scavenger hunt with a small prize at the end. Olympic Kayak Rentals is located at Fort Flagler. They offer guided tours and offer kayak rentals for those that want to be off on their own. You need to check out their website to get more information. Marrowstone Winery has live music, and often food trucks on weekends during the Summer months. There are some picnic tables, and chairs if you get there early. Plenty of room for kids to play or to put out a blanket, kick back and enjoy the tunes. They have a variety of wines and nonalcoholic drinks to choose from.
