Puako is the only non-resort community on the coast between the Waikoloa and Mauna Kea resorts on the Big Island. Puako Beach Drive runs along the coastal reef for two miles with many beach accesses. It is one of the best diving areas in all of Hawaii. It was home to Native Hawaiians. Hapuna Beach, a top rated beach in the world, is a few minute drive away. We have seen more than 50 sea turtles in an afternoon out on the reef. Puako is a quiet neighborhood.
