This “hotel” is really more of an old bed and breakfast. The layout is awkward winding about and with many steps/stairwells. The steps would be an issue for the elderly. To suggest that they are 5 star is an extreme exaggeration and far from reality. These areas my stay fell completely below expectations. 1. After checking in I discovered the wireless internet was not functioning. This required me to walk up and down 2 flights of stairs across the restaurant to discuss the matter repeatedly with reception. Suzanne the GM was responsive but the issue lasted hours. When then routers came on the download speed once 1MBPS or non-existent. Just staying on the network required me to reboot my devices often. Once services were restored network speed varied between 8-10 MBPS (slow) to about 30 MBPS (functional but slow). Handling my business affairs online was challenging throughout my stay. 2. At breakfast on a rainy day the roof leaked sending cold water down my neck and back. (see image) I notified staff who mostly shrugged and smiled with indifference. The entire episode is unprofessional, and they had no empathy of any kind. 3. The cooked breakfast came out wrong most days of my stay. 4. The tables at breakfast were stained filled and dirty. (See images) 5. The room presents its own challenges. Firstly, the bed is rock hard like a concrete slab. For a side sleeper this was miserable. Second, there is only a mini make up type desk making it hard for a business traveler. Third, there is no outlet in the bathroom so one must dry their hair elsewhere. Fourth, water flows awkwardly in the sinks causing the water to splash all over while one shaves or brushes their teeth. 6. The property and rooms show of wear and tear. Peeling paint, scuffs, and torn/frayed linens were commonplace. (See images) 7. The bedrooms are quite small in general. Some like room 12 are subject to immense noise from outside as room 12 for example is adjacent to the dining room/restaurant. There is little room for luggage and a couple traveling together would struggle to store bags. At $350USD per night one deserves more and expects more. For my many annoyances I was not offered any compensation or courtesy. When I raised my issues I was summarily dismissed. I guess buying me $2 beer and/or $4 brandy at the bar was just too much for the hotel. What is self-evident is that there main focus is extracting as much money as possible without regard to service failures and various deficiencies. The 5 star moniker is misleading as they hit about a 2/3 star level. This bed and breakfast style hotel is wildly overpriced for the product and service delivered. They do not take accountability for their shortcomings.
