The Stag at Stow

The Stag is well situated in the main square at Stow with free parking outside. I was disappinted to sit for lunch in the bar area - as this was a hotel I had expected a proper resturant. The food, when served, was so smothered in sauce that you could not taste the flavour of the meat or fish. It did, however, have a gluten free menu. which was why we chose it. An average meal at a high price.

Warm welcome at check in. All staff were very friendly / intensive throughout our stay. on site car parking . Our room was clean/ comfortable. Little touches such as beautiful bathroom potions . Tea/ coffee & fresh milk / water. Breakfast was delicious - various choices. We dined one evening and the food was fantastic, a great menu. Would highly recommend this hotel , beautiful part of England & a bus ride away to other parts of the Cotswolds . We would stay there again!

Just wanted to say we had an amazing dinner at the stag the food was delicious, make sure you’re hungry as the portions are huge. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, so different to the meal at the porch house the previous night who were not that interested in serving us.

Very disappointed. Stayed in Roe. Very.tired room. View out of window on to fire escape. Paid £135. Steps to bathroom, not mentioned in description of the room, quite slippy, so not great if your elderly . Had to put light on to get up the steps, so, disturbing my husband. Breakfast not great. Bacon had been cooked, but chewy, and couldn't eat. Half a mushroom, half a tomato. Then to top it off, found a hair in my scrambled eggs!!😔

Top class service and quality - on both food and accommodation. Beautiful food - delicious flavours, great variety of dishes. Excellent value for money. James is a wonderful host and his team are a credit to him. Very comfortable room with great facilities. Can’t wait to stay again!

Visted today with my partner on a whim as we were driving through the village. 5* service 5* star food. Staff really easy going and happy to change dessert for us which was wonderful as my partner is fussy 🤣. Food was delicious and good portions. Clean throughout and the fireplace was wonderful. 1 million percent will be back again

Amazing Sunday lunch it was completely faultless! if you are in the area I would highly recommend. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The lamb shoulder was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. A must visit and I can’t wait to visit again!

Arrived in stow late due to our wonderful M6. It was a Monday night in February. Most places were closed. So went in the stag. Staff were lovely, very accommodating and managed to fit us in for some dinner. The beer was decent and the food was pub grub, but at the higher end of that scale. Really nice actually. 2 starters, 2 mains and 8 pints. £120. Can’t complain at that. For what it is I think it was decent enough. If I was to have one criticism then it would have been the gents toilets. Shall we say they needed attending. Bins overflowing with paper towels. Pish on the floor. Disappointing in this day and age. But overall, decent place. Would love to go in the summer and use the courtyard garden out the back. Reckon that would be great.

A wonderful place to stay with great rooms with loads of character. The breakfast in the morning was amazing. Parking on site although limited. Great character pub and hotel in the heart of the Cotswolds. Well worth a stay. And the bar is good for a beer.
