The Penn Stroud, Stroudsburg - Poconos, Ascend Hotel Collection

Beds were comfortable, sink/shower water pressure was good, quiet location. There was a note that said to use the thermostat on the wall but it didn't work and woke up to a very cold room - it was actually the thermostat on the heater that worked. Complimentary water is provided in the lobby. Parking lot only had one spot left when we got there.

Lots of food in the local area. Not too far from the DWG National Recreation Area. Good for bigger kids. Clean and comfortable beds.

Construction noise started shortly after 7am on Monday morning!! No happy Bed was not great Other than that it was good

Hotel was well kept and appears to be fresh. Free, fenced parking. Only complaint: there appear to be a lot of locals staying there. I had to complain about the music from an adjoining room. a bit sketchy.

I paid for a City View and two beds, they gave me 1 bed first and 2 bed no view the second time. I had to change 3 different times and they charged me for the change.

Upon my arrival I was greeted by a very nice man at the front desk named Chase. He was friendly and helped me with my luggage. Upon entering my room it was average. The rug was not very clean and the bathroom floor could have used a good steam. The people next door were extremely loud, banging on the walls ,children screaming and doors open and closing. I didn’t have breakfast because I was unable to find it. I was concerned about the parking lot. It was shared with surrounding homes and was very dark. As a single female and handicapped I was a nervous. The next night I asked if I could park In front of the area near the lobby and it they said ok. I was greatly relieved. My last night was again the loud noises of the people in the next room, screaming banging and slamming of doors. I called the front desk and they did come up to speak with them and it was fine. I was not impressed with this place and would not go back.

Despite the lobby and ground floor being renovated, the rest of the hotel was nicely, updated, including the rooms and lounge area for breakfast. The complementary breakfast was excellent, especially on the weekend. And despite a holiday, there was plenty of staff and their service was attentive and friendly. The hotel location in the middle of downtown is excellent providing lots of food, bars, and shopping nearby. There is also plenty of entertainment in downtown. This is a great old hotel that found its place a long time ago in the heart of Stroudsburg and is on a big comeback. We would definitely come back to stay there and look forward to completion of the renovations.

I didn’t experience the breakfast but the beds the floors and the bathroom was super clean. A little noisy outside but then it calmed down. The woman in the front desk was very informative and helpful when directing me around the area and when I needed extra quilts for my sons bed. LP

Location suffers here. This location goes back to 1833 so there's only so much you can do to upgrade. I was debating between here and the Hampton Inn, and the Hampton would have better suited just due to the parking situation even though it would have been $50 more expensive for 2 nights. Here you have to go out the lobby front doors which is a long walk to your vehicle so very inconvenient. People need shorts trips to and from their vehicle. Rooms were good though. Modern and clean. Hot water in the shower and good water pressure. Fast Wi-Fi. Good workout area with treadmills and weights and a decent breakfast area. Fresh fruit and good hot coffee.
