The room facilities are very old, but the external environment is very beautiful, and the activities are also very good. Hotel guests do not need to buy additional tickets for the surf park. The visitor center can book ziplines, crocodile gardens, golf...

City Lodge rooms are more worthwhile. Basin was blocked, shower leaked, door to veranda (for which a cost was levied was broken). There was only one USB port and the hair dryer was a long way from the mirror.

While I have been to the resort many times before, this was my first time at Cascades. And while the hotel is a little dated according to some, I actually liked that retro feeling. My room was spacious and cosy. Linens and towels were clean. Service was friendly and helpful. The room service menu looked amazing even but I didn't have the chance to order. I absolutely loved the spread at The Peninsula for breakfast. It's going to be tough adjusting back to reality.

The hotel is clearly nowhere near 5 star standards as it once was. Staff at the entrance didn’t even offer to carry our luggage on both checkin and checkout. The rooms have been updated to an extent but bathrooms are still in need of an upgrade. Fittings are old and dated. Everything else was fine in the room and it did make for a comfortable stay. House keeping is very rowdy on the phone and I needed to call twice after 45 minutes to ask for things. The pool and jungle area is well looked after and it makes for a memorable and relaxing stay. Breakfast is quite well spread but it’s disappointing that the glasses for water and juice are ridiculously small, the thought of standing up from your table to go and fetch another tiny glass of drinks does put one off. Otherwise a great experience and suitability for everyone. We did enjoy our stay but it’s the small touches above that were missing and would have made it memorable. Please note: A lot needs to improve, especially the behaviour of staff. A shaving kit for a male is R30! Probably one of the few hotels regardless of star ratings that charges for a small request. Would rather stay in the Soho or Cabanas

The Cascades Hotel at Sun City Resort is very special. Lots to do outdoors, and weather is generally good. We are oldies and enjoy walks and bird spotting on the golf courses. The views are spectacular.

Sun city cascades While the facilities (Valley of the waves, Waterworld, hotel pool, aviary) was nice, the Cascades hotel quality has sadly declined. The hotel is in desperate need of a renovation, the service is poor and the quality of food is not on par with a 5 star hotel. I booked a family room at substantial cost & despite the room being ok, the bathroom was very small. The space between the toilet & shower screen was so small that our knees pressed up against the glass screen. I requested another room with a bigger bathroom but was told that there was nothing they could do. This despite the hotel having under 30% occupancy. The breakfast was ok , nothing special but the baked goods that were served on the Sunday, we brought out the next morning & served again. The banana cake, Poppy cake & some croissant varieties were stale. As was the bread, despite being toasted. On days 2 to 4, we were told the normal full buffet breakfast would not be served. Instead, a continental buffet would be served & eggs can be ordered off the a la carte menu. This was inadequate and very disappointing for a supposed 5 star hotel. The service at reception, at the restuarant and by housekeeping (inconsistent, not replenishing bathroom items) was very poor. This hotel has sadly declined over the years, in more ways than 1. This should be downgraded to a 3 star hotel at best. There's nothing making it 5 star anymore

The hotel was mostly old and dated which isn’t a huge issue for me except that the bottom floor had a terrible musty smell (unsure if it was coming from inside or the stagnant looking pond outside the doors). The dining area was very dark and the food, although a large spread, wasn’t the greatest (although as a vegetarian I can’t speak to the meat options). For example, the pancakes were always hard from sitting in the warmer, the yogurt was watery and the granola was stale. It is difficult to get hot drinks and every day we did not get them until we were done our food. The tea also tasted very odd (perhaps made with unfiltered water?). We all developed some mild GI issues while staying here, unsure if it was from the food/water or something unrelated. The rooms were decent (no balcony in our room which was a big disappointment as the photos showed a balcony for our room type). Room service never replaced our one tiny bar of soap (for 4 people) and when I asked the person who came to offer towels for soap they said they didn’t have one and did not offer options to get one. The concierge service was very poor - usually no one at the desk and we would get conflicting information on activities from different staff when we did speak with them. The good things about this hotel are the pool area (one heated pool, which was nice but almost too warm, along with one unheated) and the location (directly across from the central mall. We would definitely not stay here again.

A tonne of staff who dont do a lot by way of service. Ignoring you is their speciality and talking loudly amongst themselves is their true talent. For a 5 star venue its terrible, it ranks more as a 3.
