Somerset Emerald City

Ascott is truly a hotel with integrity. Even during Chinese New Year, the room rates didn't increase much. The only thing is that the two-bedroom apartments were quite popular, so on our third day, we had to book two one-bedroom apartments separately. Mr. Lu at the front desk was excellent; he arranged for us to have two adjoining rooms. The rooms, living room, and bathroom were all very spacious, giving us a homely feel. A special shout-out goes to Auntie Wen, the cleaner. We happened to see her cleaning, and she was exceptionally warm and friendly. She was very meticulous in her work and even mentioned that the bathtub is disinfected and cleaned with disinfectant every time, which is truly reassuring.

The room was excellent. Even though it's an older hotel, the family room facilities were incredibly well-maintained, spotless, and tidy. The microwave, washer-dryer combo, and bidet all worked perfectly. Any normal wear and tear was completely within an acceptable range. The central air conditioning also worked great; even with winter rain or snow in Suzhou, the room maintained a consistent temperature and humidity. The high-floor views were fantastic, whether facing east or west, with expansive scenery on both sides. The double-pane windows ensured a quiet environment. The staff were all incredibly friendly. Because we had an extended stay, everyone from the front desk to the restaurant staff and cleaning aunties remembered us, proactively offered help, and were warm and welcoming. The cleaning aunties were also very considerate; even when we said we didn't need daily bed making, they would still tidy up. Our itinerary changed 3 or 4 times, and the front desk staff were always very enthusiastic and patient in helping me adjust our reservation. They even upgraded our room, taking into account our young child! Breakfast was a standard buffet, with two menus rotating daily. Aside from the first two days of Chinese New Year when it was a bit crowded, we could always enjoy our meals peacefully. The restaurant aunties were also very patient and thoughtful. If the kids woke up late, family members could take packed breakfast back to the room. The front desk offered welcome tea and instant coffee, and fresh-ground coffee was available at breakfast. The location is exceptionally convenient. Downstairs is the Greenbank Shopping Center with two supermarkets, so all your dining, shopping, and daily needs are within a 5-minute walk. Getting around is also easy, with Suzhou Museum West and a subway station within walking distance. In summary, it's an incredibly child-friendly hotel, perfect for families. The value for money is excellent, and we will definitely stay here again next time we visit Suzhou!
