The facilities are a bit dated, but the hotel's overall ambiance is lovely, and it even has its own small garden. The service throughout the hotel was excellent. During our stay, it was really hot, and we got quite sweaty, so we had to wash our clothes and hang them in the bathroom. To our surprise, the next day, when housekeeper number 150 was cleaning, she noticed this and proactively offered us a drying rack, even helping us hang our clothes out to dry.

The Suyuan Hotel is an old, garden-style hotel in Suzhou, exuding a strong charm of ancient Jiangnan with its white walls, dark-tiled roofs, and serene courtyards. Every step reveals a classic Suzhou scene. The goldfish in the pond are delightful, swimming in schools and endlessly captivating. While the hotel's buildings and facilities are a bit dated, and the decor is retro and simple, lacking the modern flair of newer hotels, it doesn't detract from the overall stay experience. What truly stood out was the hotel's exceptional service. The front desk staff were gentle, warm, and incredibly polite. Check-in and check-out were efficient and quick. They patiently answered all our questions about transportation, sightseeing, and dining, and even thoughtfully recommended local tour guides. Their thoroughness and patience throughout made us feel incredibly comfortable. The breakfast offered a simple yet diverse spread of both Chinese and Western options. The staff were courteous and polite. Knowing I was a Ctrip VIP, they brought me exquisite pastries every morning – I was truly touched. The cleaning staff, especially Auntie 155 and another auntie (responsible for the third floor of Building 2), were exceptionally diligent and responsible, meticulously cleaning every corner. They tidied the rooms daily, neatly made the beds, emptied trash, replenished toiletries, and even cleaned hidden spots. The room was spotless and odor-free, and the common areas were consistently clean and fresh. Overall, this is a hidden gem of an old hotel with modest facilities but perfect service. The sincere and dedicated service more than compensates for the older amenities. It offers great value for money, makes you feel incredibly welcome, and is definitely worth staying at.

Traveling with my elderly parents and a child, the little one had a great time, especially enjoying watching and feeding the fish. However, my parents found the bathroom a bit inconvenient due to the bathtub, making it difficult to get in and out.

The hotel boasts a Suzhou-style courtyard garden, offering picturesque views right outside the window. You can even feed the koi by the pond. While the rooms have a bit of a vintage feel, they are clean and tidy. The service is incredibly attentive and goes above and beyond to meet your needs. The location is a peaceful oasis amidst the hustle and bustle, with easy access to dining and shopping.

Great review! This hotel offers excellent value for money; I initially booked it just to try it out. Although the decor is a bit dated, the environment is wonderful! It's very clean, and the bedding is super comfortable. I forgot to bring disposable toilet seat covers, so I asked the front desk. An auntie brought some over and very kindly helped us put them on. She was smiling and very sweet. I even specifically asked for her employee number: 166. Big thumbs up to the auntie and the hotel! Because our room was in building #3, a staff member specially guided us all the way to our door. The breakfast was also delicious. I'll definitely come back next time!

Let's talk about value for money: I don't want to use that term, but when staying at a hotel, you primarily look for safety, hygiene, and comfortable rest. Su Yuan has all of these. It seems it was mainly used for official receptions in the past, so perhaps leaders or lower-level officials have stayed here. The TV is small because 'leaders only watch the news' (a humorous, slightly self-deprecating comment). The inner courtyard is a Suzhou-style garden. The back door allows direct access to Dongyuan Street to experience the local street life. The parking lot is very large. It's 500 meters from the subway station. The location is in the south of the city, between the moat and the Grand Canal, making it convenient to get anywhere. It's just a tiny bit further from the city center. I chose to stay here this time mainly because when there are sports events or concerts, other hotels double or even triple their usual rates. Su Yuan, however, maintained its regular price. The nearly 300 yuan I saved allowed me to try all the must-eat spots nearby, including Su Yuan's own noodles. The slippers provided in the room were very comfortable; taking them home costs 59 yuan. There's a small deposit required for the stay due to its unique features (like being able to charge meals and other consumption to your room first). But while other places double their prices, they keep their regular rates. The service is excellent! The lady at the front desk, #52, even helped upgrade my room. Oh, and upon check-in, they give you a green tea voucher. The quality is superb, so don't miss out on using it!

The hotel's location is excellent, right in the city center yet surprisingly quiet. It has a large parking lot, which is very convenient for self-driving travelers. The hotel facilities are top-notch, offering everything you need. While the room facilities are decent, the rooms themselves are a bit small. Overall, the hotel's services are superb, which is why I stopped by for another night.

This was the only affordable option we found on Suzhou's list of unique hotels. It's quite close to the subway station, though a little dated. Many people arriving by car can park in the courtyard, and it looks like a lot of conferences and lectures are held here. The front desk staff were very nice. We thought we might have left a bag at the front desk, and they even checked the surveillance cameras for us with just one call. I forgot to take pictures of the room, but the disposable slippers were of great quality and very comfortable. There's a bathtub, but you have to stand in it to use the shower. I took a few photos of the small garden in the courtyard; the scenery is quite lovely.

The hotel has a wonderful Suzhou garden ambiance. The rooms are comfortable and convenient, and the breakfast is good too. I'll definitely choose this place first next time I'm in Suzhou! 😊

The room was incredibly clean. As someone who appreciates cleanliness, I wiped down all the nooks and crannies of the chairs with a wet wipe, and there wasn't a speck of dust. The hotel staff were also very thoughtful. The clothes I washed in the evening were neatly hung on hangers the next day. They even sent some small snacks. My stay experience was excellent.

A classic old-money style hotel with a beautiful ambiance. The excellent service more than makes up for the older facilities. The location is also great, making it super convenient for getting around! I'll definitely stay here again and recommend it to my friends.

The room was quiet and the bed was comfortable. There was also a mini-fridge. In the evening, the hotel even brought complimentary yogurt and snacks. The check-in process was very friendly and they completely met my request for a non-smoking and quiet room. This is one of the reasons I always love coming to Suzhou. There are many beautiful, swimming koi inside, and the small waterfall adds a charming touch.

The hardware facilities in the room are quite old, and there's no mini-fridge. It's fine now that the weather isn't too hot, but it will be troublesome for storing fresh food and refrigerated medicines in the summer. The hotel's garden and fish pond are a special feature, and they provide fish food, which my child loved! The hotel service is also good, they are very responsive and communication was smooth!

Not a 5 stars hotel. In gym, there was no wipes to clean the equipments...not good with the Covid. Also, no drinking water.
