Fun Inn is a practical short-stay hostel with six-bed women’s dormitories, privacy curtains, small bed stairs, and comfortable mattresses. The women’s section has one bathroom and one washroom, with two additional washrooms near the lobby. Each washroom has a regular locker, and no access key is needed for lockers. Wireless internet worked adequately in the room, although not perfect. Towels are not free, meaning guests need to bring one or rent one.
I am a woman in my 20s. My first solo travel stay felt easy, convenient, and safe. The layout was simple, as the toilet, washroom, and bedrooms were close together. Self-check-in, the access key, locker use, and check-out were smooth. The location was the strongest advantage: around 5 minutes walk to the metro, 15 minutes walk to Ximending, 10 minutes walk to City Mall, and 5 minutes walk to the Hello Kitty 7-Eleven.
The main cautions are the strict no-cancellation and no-refund policy, street noise, and limited space. The walls felt thin, and as a light sleeper I did notice the traffic noise, although noise-cancelling AirPods worked. The common area can become crowded, even in the women quarters. During my stay, the women’s bedrooms were not locked, although the women’s section and individual lockers were locked.
Overall, Fun Inn works well for a short Taipei stay of around 1–3 nights. For a longer stay, especially female traveller, I would consider a hostel with more space, stronger sound insulation, and a more flexible booking policy.
