Palais de Chine Hotel

Our overall stay at the Hotel Junpin was excellent. The location is incredibly convenient, right near Taipei Main Station, making it easy to access the High-Speed Rail, regular trains, and the MRT. The hotel's decor has a distinctive European vintage style, and the common areas have a great ambiance. Our room was also very clean and comfortable. The bed provided good support, and the soundproofing was above average, so we had a very restful night's sleep. The staff were friendly and attentive. The check-in and check-out process was smooth, and they were quick to assist us whenever we had questions. The breakfast offered a wide variety of choices, both Western and Chinese, and the overall quality was good. One minor point to note is that some of the design elements are quite strong, so it might not appeal to those who prefer a bright, modern style. However, considering the location, service, and comfort of the accommodation, it's still highly recommended. We would definitely consider staying here again on our next trip to Taipei.

After checking into the room and using the toilet, I found the flush button was broken, so I had no choice but to move to another room. The room itself felt uncomfortable; I couldn't understand why there was an elder's chair in the shower stall. The toilet floor was dirty, the mirror edges had stains when I looked into it, the faucet was covered in grime, and there was no trash bag in the bin. The room's cleanliness was extremely poor 👎🏻. The only good thing was its convenient location.

I strongly urge everyone to avoid the Palais de Chine Hotel! My recent stay was incredibly frustrating. The hotel facilities have major safety hazards, and the front desk's attitude after the incident was appalling. The bathroom completely lacks a wet/dry separation, making the floor prone to puddles and slipping – a clear design flaw. Even though I held onto the handrail to enter the shower area, I still slipped and fell, resulting in a large, severe bruise on my leg. I immediately reported the situation to the front desk. At that time, I wasn't thinking about compensation; I simply wanted to kindly alert the hotel, hoping they would improve their safety measures to prevent other guests from experiencing the same accident. To my surprise, the front desk staff was arrogant and unapologetic, simply stating, "You only booked an Elegant Room; if you want better facilities, you should book a more premium room type." This booking cost over NT$3,000, which is by no means budget accommodation! Ensuring guest safety is the most fundamental responsibility of any hotel, and it has nothing to do with room type! Regardless of the room type, the Palais de Chine Hotel is responsible for providing non-slip surfaces and eliminating the risk of falls. I merely offered a friendly warning about a safety hazard without requesting any compensation, yet the hotel failed to address its own facility issues, instead using the room type as an excuse to shirk responsibility. The facilities have safety loopholes, and the service is cold and lacks empathy. The Palais de Chine Hotel can't even rationally handle a guest's kind warning about a safety hazard. It has no sense of responsibility and poses a risk of personal injury. I strongly advise against staying here; travelers, please choose carefully!

This time in Taipei, I stayed at the Palais de Chine Hotel again. The service was as excellent as ever, very friendly and welcoming. The hotel overall is pretty good, except for the excessive number of mirrors in the room, haha.
