This hotel is super close to Hirayu Onsen bus station, just a few minutes' walk away. It's a pretty big place. After checking in, you swap your shoes for slippers, and you can wear the provided yukata (Japanese robes) throughout the entire hot spring hotel. To avoid lugging our luggage up and down, we opted for a slightly more expensive Western-style standard room in the main building. They have an outdoor onsen, and the men's and women's baths switch daily. After a relaxing soak, there's free ice cream available. We had dinner and breakfast included, both buffet style, but the taste was just so-so.

I booked two rooms and reviewed them twice. The location is excellent. Hirayu Onsen is conveniently located between Takayama and Shinhotaka, making it about an hour's drive to Takayama, Shinhotaka, Honoki Ski Resort, and Matsumoto, which is great for kids. The road to Shinhotaka has many winding turns, which can cause motion sickness for seniors and children, so stopping halfway helps a lot. You'll need to book dinner in advance, as there aren't many dining options nearby, and the buffet is a good choice for both seniors and children. The hotel service gets a 5-star rating!

It snowed heavily the night we arrived, but the next morning the weather was beautiful and the snow-capped mountains were stunning. The hotel's location is very convenient. There was an event that night, and a shuttle bus took us to Hirayu Falls where there were fireworks and illuminations – it was really fun! The hotel breakfast was also good. One night felt a bit too short.

What an amazing hotel. First of all it is located in an amazing location very close to the bus station. Very close to ski places. As a hotel has onsens where you can relax. This was not very clear to the description, so I mention it here in the comment. Keep in mind that because the onsens are not for private use men and women are separated. The hotel was providing kimonos for men and women and sandals. It was super clean and we spent 2 nights, 3 days of our trip there where we fully relaxed while enjoying the hotel and the area like visiting takayama which is very close. The breakfast was very nice, and the dinner was a buffet. We didn't book in advance dinner but we had the option to pay extra so we enjoyed both nights the dinner, which was very good.

Came to Hirayu to experience the snow scenery and hot springs. The hotel's snow views are beautiful. When we went to the hot springs, there was hardly anyone there, so we had a private onsen experience. Breakfast and dinner were interesting and tasted good. However, the dishes were the same every day. The kids had a great time playing in the snow, and the elderly enjoyed their comfortable stay. The hotel is conveniently located, just a three-minute walk from the Nohi Bus Terminal. It's one stop away from the ski resort, about a 15-minute walk.
