Guesthouse Tomaru

This was a truly wonderful inn! Despite its age, the interior has been beautifully renovated and everything felt incredibly clean, showing thoughtful touches throughout. The location is perfect, being very close to the station, and you can practically just show up with a towel and pajamas. The owner is friendly and kind, making this a place I'd definitely want to stay at again when I'm in Takayama!

First time staying in a hostel and it was a pleasant surprise! It was quiet and clean, and the location was excellent. I slept soundly through the night, probably the best sleep I've had on this trip, only waking up at 7:30 in the morning...

The location is superb, just a 5-minute walk from the JR station and Nohi Bus Terminal. The area is very quiet at night, and most attractions are within walking distance. Staying directly in a historic, traditional Japanese house offers a truly unique experience. The host family is very friendly and helpful, answering any questions and recommending local attractions and restaurants, including Hida beef spots! Both the beds and bathrooms are very clean, and guests are conscientious about keeping them that way. However, since the house is made of wood, you can hear any noise from other guests. I was lucky that the other guests were very considerate, so it didn't bother me too much. Light sleepers should definitely keep this in mind.

The hotel's location is great, not far from the station, making it convenient to get around. However, the beds are quite close together, and there are no windows, which can be a bit disruptive.
