Absolutely disgraceful for a so-called five-star hotel. The service was shockingly poor from the very start. There was no doorman to help with luggage — completely unacceptable for a Shangri-La. When I asked at check-in, they casually claimed there was a doorman, but clearly he couldn’t be bothered. The front desk’s attitude was already unfriendly, and only after some reluctance did they offer to send our bags up. We waited over ten minutes and had to call twice before they finally arrived.
Check-in was equally unimpressive: just handing me a room key with no introduction, no explanation, no welcome. For a hotel at this price point, that’s a joke. On top of that, we had three guests, and every other hotel we stayed at automatically provided extra toiletries without us asking. Here, they didn’t even acknowledge it, and we had to request additional sets and wait for quite a long time. Completely careless and inattentive.
And the amenities are outdated to the point of embarrassment: a ridiculously tiny TV, an ancient hairdryer, and nothing that remotely feels five-star. Honestly, it felt cheap and neglected.
On top of all this, the overall atmosphere was cold and unwelcoming, as if Asian guests don’t deserve proper service. It felt discriminatory and insulting. Ironically, at check-out, staff suddenly put on smiles which feels absolutely a joke.
The only star goes to the view from the room. Other than that, a total disappointment. Never again. By choosing this hotel, you’re only supporting their poor service and discriminatory behavior. Spend your money somewhere that actually values guests.

Had a great stay. 15min walk from the train station. We did the horizon club option and it was definitely worth it. Freya was kind and helped us during our stay.

We’ve stayed at this hotel at least three times. It’s special to us because we got engaged there. This time was disappointing. At check-in I asked the customer service representative who helped us to check in to add breakfast for each day of our stay. She didn’t do it. Also, I pre-booked a spa day for two people but when we arrived at the spa, there was only one person working.

Boring hotel, getting points on brand, lounge on the top doesn't serve beer after 20:00. Overpriced for no reason. Same hotel in Cangzhoua, King Lion, just with different name, same design, twice better. People who work in Shangri La are nice and they are hardworkers.

Beautiful hotel! I enjoyed my stay here while visiting Tianjin. The room was clean, amenities were sufficient. My booking didn’t come with breakfast but the price was decent for the buffet, 193 rmb. The majority of the staff spoke English so that was super helpful!

Although we waited a short while upon arrival, the front desk team quickly arranged a room upgrade for us, which was a wonderful surprise. We were touched by the thoughtful welcome fruits, the box of chocolates that our child thoroughly enjoyed, and the lovely bottle of red wine prepared for us as a couple.

The hotel refused to turn on their central AC unit in late April so the room AC is on fan mode only. Our room was 26c showing the manager did send up a tech guy and tested the room temp was 26 as showing on the display and the air wa very stuffy.
They said it’s cold at night so building is not turning on the AC but the windows does not open !!!The manager did offer free breakfast and delivered a fan to my room. lucky we were only there for 2 nights in the stuffy room but I will not be staying again.

Shangrila Hotel never disappoints me. Always an excellent stay with Shangrila. Staff are friendly and English speaking. Spectacular view at our window. Sumptuous and wide variety of choices for breakfast buffet. Amenities are world class. The price was worth the hassle free, enjoyable and memorable experience.

Nothing short of excellent. Very convenient with the metro just in front of e hotel, river walk by the back, train station for the train to Beijing just 5mins away by car. Fantastic views of the river from the room. Truly luxurious stay. Lounge was great too! Pic is a view from the room.
