Fairmont Royal York Hotel

The hotel's century-old history is truly impressive, and the service from the front desk and doormen was incredibly warm and welcoming. The room facilities felt very luxurious and definitely met five-star standards. This will be my first choice for my next visit to Toronto, and the value for money exceeded all expectations!

The hotel's location is unique and convenient, especially for those needing to catch a train, including the airport train. It's an established luxury hotel with over a thousand rooms, and generally clean. The shampoo in the room was Le Labo Rose 31, but my conditioner happened to be missing. I mentioned it to the housekeeping supervisor who came to check the room the next day; she diligently noted it down and promised to restock, but it still wasn't there that evening. Additionally, checking out on the third day, I had to store my luggage on the basement level, which was quite inconvenient for hauling it up and down. The hotel's elevators also try to appear upscale, requiring some getting used to. It happened that a section of the lobby was under renovation, so breakfast came with the deafening sound of a drill, though I understand that was temporary.

The room was a bit small, but still big enough to open two large suitcases. The hotel is historic, and the bathroom facilities seem to have been renovated, so it doesn't feel run-down, though the water pressure was quite low. The bedding was comfortable. There's an ice machine on my floor, and a LCBO (liquor store) connected to the underground level on B1, which is great for those who enjoy a drink. Since it was our anniversary, the receptionist gave us a room with a view of the CN Tower, which was a nice touch, and the chocolates we received at check-in were also delicious. The hotel's B1 level connects directly to the CN Tower, so the location is absolutely unbeatable. I would definitely stay here again if I have the chance.

This is a pretty good hotel, but there are a lot of high steps right at the entrance. It's clearly designed so you have to have someone carry your luggage and tip them.
