Townsville Hotel Guide

Townsville is located in northeastern Queensland, Australia. An easy gateway to the city is provided via Townsville Airport (TSV) which offers connections to other major domestic cities.

Other than being a place of entry to the Great Barrier Reef, Townsville has a multitude of attractions that make it worth a visit. Located south of the city is the Billabong Sanctuary, a wildlife sanctuary where visitors can interact with animals such as kangaroos, crocodiles, and wombats. At Reef HQ, the largest living coral reef aquarium in the world can be found. The Museum of Tropical Queensland is located within the same complex, so they can both be visited in the same day.

When visiting Townsville, Magnetic Island is not to be missed. Over 800 koalas live on the island, which is also a part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. From the city, it only takes 25 minutes to reach the island by ferry.

Townsville is also known for Castle Hill, a granite monolith located 938 feet above the city. A major point of interest, multiple points from which to view the city can be found atop the monolith and while climbing.

Many different types of accommodations are located in the town, including backpacker hostels and luxury hotels perfect for a getaway. Whether you come to Townsville for business or vacation, there are hotels available to accommodate all types of visitors.
