Lovely relaxing place to stay. The room was especially nice and spacious. Super dinner in the restaurant both Sunday roast and the steaks. Atmosphere was slightly lacking as it was quiet. God location to visit different beaches and towns.

My wife and myself booked a 4 night stay in one of the lodges in early March. Let me start with probably the only positives, the grounds are very nice with a tranquil lake and the location is good for travel to Lynemouth, Barnstable etc. Now the negatives, the lodges were probably very nice when new but are now in need of some refurbishments, issues with our lodge included, entry door badly sticking, blinds were either broken or missing, carpets dirty, cooker hood not working, a loud fan in the kitchen was on permanently, oval toilet seat stuck onto rectangular toilet, internal doors and floors badly marked, radiator stained. Perhaps the major negative was that the staff, although outwardly friendly were totally out of their depths (as mentioned in earlier review). Unfortunately as a result of an issue at home we had to curtail our stay by one night. On day 2 we notified reception that we needed to leave a day early and we were told to hand our keys into reception and they would sort it out. This we did but the receptionist said that he could not process the one night refund as they had a new card machine and he did not know how to do it. We were told that his Manager would be in at lunchtime and he would get her to ring me to sort it out. No call so on the evening I rang and spoke to the Manager who said that she did not know how to work the machine and would need to speak to her Manager to arrange it and that she would call me back. After 2/3 days with no call back I rang again only to be told that her Manager had refused a refund as we had not given 48 hours notice ( although we had). I asked if he could call me to discuss. Another few days passed with no call back so I rang again and was told that I had not had a call as he had been busy doing the cooking !!. I was told however that he would be calling me. Surprise surprise no call !!

We stayed on an offer in January and first came here in 2022. I'd read some of the reviews about falling standards and can confirm this is sadly the case. They are totally rudderless, and you wouldn't even know if there even is a manager, and if there is, they need replacing as they are way out of their depth. It's such a lovely place with immense potential but let down by zero leadership. The cottage suite was amazing, clean, and comfortable. However, when it came to a shower in the morning, it was stone cold. We went to breakfast and mentioned it, and they promised to get someone to look at it. Take something warm to breakfast as they had no heating on and being like a barn, and as it was January, it was freezing. The dinner the night before was very nice but breakfast was dry and clearly been out for ages. The mushrooms resembled bits of dry plastic. By 10 a.m., a young lady informed us the thermostat was broken and that we could use another suite to shower in. Considering we had to checkout and move on and the thought of changing rooms, we declined. I mentioned again at checkout how disappointed we were at having no shower facilities and no offer of any discount. When I got home, I noticed they had charged me twice for dinner the first night. I'm not one to write bad reviews without bringing issues up at the time. Therefore, I wrote an email for the manager mentioning how nice the suite was and dinner, but we would expect a shower to be working in our room. At the same time, I mentioned the double charge. I've never come across such awful customer service as I had the double charge refunded, but my complaint was totally ignored. We live 30 minutes away and are locals, but I implore you to look elsewhere. For the prices they charge, they are not at that level. It used to be amazing with their own reception for those staying. Now you have to stand at the bar, which is also the check-in, and it feels more like a B&B welcome now. I never saw anyone other than young female staff on duty and no one who was in charge. I've never had a complaint ignored before, and they clearly read it, as I was refunded my double charge. I implore you to take note of recent complaints about it not being the place it once was and book elsewhere. Places like this where we spent £250 for 1 night simply don't deserve it. They had their chance to acknowledge my issues but decided to totally ignore me.

Nice weekend break. Lovely little cottage lodge with all the mod cons. We had dinner in the on site restaurant which was lovely. Recommend the chateaubriand! Grounds are well kept and tidy throughout. We noted some lakeside lodges on site, we may try these next time.

Stayed in the Berrynarbor Lodge for 4 nights in November amid thunder, wind and rain but thankfully dry during the day. What a lovely, friendly place Kentisbury Grange is - the restaurant/bar is very welcoming - we had drinks there two nights and a wonderful meal, on another. The walk up in the dark is interesting with three or four owls screeching in competition. The lodge was beautifully situated on the lake with ducks and other birds including robin that came to visit each morning. Absolutely delightful. Parking just down the end of the path (some lodges have parking right outside). The lodge was well set up for our dog with throws over the sofas and even a dog bed supplied! The kitchen was very well equipped, gas central heating working well as it was chilly outside, the bathrooms were clean as were the bedrooms with a comfortable king side bed. Someone commented on the TV which was not a “smart” - this was not the end of the world although we do prefer watching some of the alternatives like Netflix and YouTube but “Freeview” was more than tolerable for 4 days. There were signs of wear and tear through the lodge, particularly the floor near the bifold doors, but for what we wanted, the lodge and the facilities at The Grange were perfect. There is plenty to do in the area even in November - our little dog loved Woolacombe beach and Saunton Sands and we also found a brilliant pub in Georgeham - The Rock. We will definitely return!

A very pleasant experience, we stayed in a cottage room that was both beautifully presented and impressively large and comfortable. The bathroom with its freestanding tub and large walk in shower rounded off the room to a tee. We ate at the restaurant both dinner and breakfast, excellent food well served on both occasions. Finally we would like to thank the staff, very helpful and efficient, all in all a great experience that we would love to repeat some time.

We stayed at Kentisbury Grange in September 2024. We stayed in the berrynarbour lodge With a hot tub overlooking a Small lake. The Kent Grange grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. The lodge of good quality, but there are a few points which I thought was worth sharing. The lodge Was clean inside, but not outside. All of the windows were super dirty Which I know does not impact your holiday, but when you’re surrounded by beautiful views but you have muddy windows it’s a bit annoying.. The hot tub cover was filthy when I put my hand In the handle to lift up the lid, it was caked in mud which was disgusting. They should also be more floor mats or rugs in the lodge as it’s all wooden floor or tiles making it super slippy As soon as you get out of the hot tub. The wooden floor is severely damage in the lodge due to water damage. The lodge Did not have a smart TV, Only Freeview.. We visited the coach house Hotel two afternoons. The staff were really really friendly and attentive but there is no music playing inside. It’s super quiet and actually looks closed. We didn’t really rate the food either, but that could be personal preference. Beautiful scenery around Kentisbury Grange but for a couple in our 30s with a baby there was just nothing at all to do. All local towns are very quiet. We visited Barnstable Linton and Lynmouth. I wouldn’t return to this area.
