Hotelito Azul

It’s a shame that such a beautiful property with gorgeous beach is so purely run! Read other bad reviews re service, didn’t think it really could be a 1 star bad. Oh yes, it totally was! 1. To my surprise, the staff didn’t speak English. With the exception of a front desk employee. 2. We could not even order a meal! Hotel was very slow, no guests and still we had to wait on average 45 min. One night for 1.5 hours for a simple meal for 2. They encouraged to order online since there were no waiters to be found. But then no one replied to online orders either. Saw a guy from the kitchen cleaning sea ****s on the beach around lunch time, as a result, lunch order wasn’t placed. And it goes on and on. Found much better places outside the hotel to eat with very good service (ex. El Tabano 0.2 miles away). 3. Everything is overpriced which we already knew, so the expectation was to get at a minimum decent service so it is worth it. That did not happen. 4. Rude unapologetic unwelcoming staff. (Language barrier perhaps). Traveled to Mexico a number of times, to the Cancun area. Never had an issue! This was a weird place. I would not recommend it based on service.

We had an overall wonderful experience for our 7 days spent at Hotelito Azul! We went with another couple and each stayed in the Oceanfront Suites (we were above them, they were ground level). The rooms were clean and spacious. Somewhat limited storage for clothes but we made the best of the shelving/hanging unit provided. The shower is a dream. The maid service cleaned our room daily and did a wonderful job! We loved the treats left on our pillows each day. AC was yours to control. One challenge we faced that would have a simple fix was the lack of rugs in the room. You’re walking through sand to get to your room and yes, there’s a bucket of water to rinse before entering however we were desperate for a small outdoor rug or just something at either the sides or foot of the bed to brush off sand before getting in bed. Interestingly, our friends downstairs had an awesome runner at the foot of their bed so maybe just consistency with that would make a huge difference! You wake to a cute basket with coffee each morning and they will refill your drinking water as much as you need it in the room. We can’t say enough good things about the staff. You communicate to them through What’sApp which offered quick responses to any questions or concerns or when ordering food/drink. Larissa, the concierge was WONDERFUL. She welcomed us every day and made us feel right at home and taken care of during our stay. She helped fill out trip with wonderful experiences whether it be tours, great local spots for food/drink or logistics. We rented scooters from the hotel the majority of our vacation days and it was well worth it. We did find the prices just across the street were cheaper however we liked the convenience of renting through the hotel. The food and drink at the hotel is all delicious, although we quickly learned that eating and drinking on the beach does get expensive, so we chose wisely when/how much we ate at the hotel. This just comes with the location. The physical location of the hotel is ideal because it isn’t too far down into the beach *****, which traffic became pretty bad the further you drove in. The aesthetic and details of the hotel are perfect for making you feel like you’re living in a whimsical jungle. FYI to all looking to stay on the beach in Tulum, during April-November or so, Tulum gets a massive amount of sea**** that makes it nearly impossible to swim in the ocean. The hotels, including Hotelito Azul, do their best to remove as much sea**** from the beach as possible, but man, is it an uphill battle. This limited our ability to sit out on the beach unfortunately, because the only relief from the heat was the outdoor shower. Which, again, is lovely, but not the ocean. Luckily, Tulum has so many other wonderful things to do that we did not feel this impacted our trip in any significant way. Those that travel during the better months have a lovely beachfront area to look forward to at Hotelito Azul. All in all, we loved our stay at this hotel and look forward to returning in the future! I cannot rave enough about this hotel. We extended our trip one night and our original hotel didn’t have availability (blessing in disguise). We booked Hotelito azul at an excellent rate and checked in. The level of care service and hospitality was unbelievable, coming from a less than desirable accommodation with the worst smelling bathroom and salt water to brush your teeth, we were relieved to walk into this little piece of heaven. Our hearts broke realizing we would only spend one measly night at Hotelito azul. This will be our go to for our next trip to Tulum! Run don’t walk to stay here.

Everything was amazing. Staff super friendly, they have 3 restaurants that can bring you food and drinks anywhere within the hotel , like on the beach, in the room, at the pool.. etc. they have a great rooftop with 2 pools and 2 bars. Everything was perfect!

It was incredible! The staff was friendly and accommodating, the rooms were clean, Ed’s were comfortable, and the beachfront was beautiful! We couldn’t have asked for more!

We paid for oceanfront and got the room at what the front office called "first line" on the ocean so it was ocean "front" but absolutely no ocean view. They offered to let us know if one room would become available at a cost. The bar/restaurant staff were amazing. The rooms are spacious and clean.

Amazing hidden Gem in tulum, great service all around, clean rooms, good wifi connection, we would be returning.

We absolutely loved our stay at hotelito azul. The property is totally dreamy giving that complete boho vibe. The rooms are big enough and the hotel is right at the beach. Their rooftop patio is just the best giving 360 degree view of the jungle and ocean with a nice music playing in the background and infinity pool and jacuzzi on the rooftop. We enjoyed ourselves at the beach all day ordering food from their restaurant agave. We even had breakfast at azul beachside which was average. Overall we loved and enjoyed our stay at azul and would love to come back here!
