Very good

Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Drinks (alcohol) are all-inclusive which is good. The bath area is not large, but you can take a tour of the outdoor baths.
Our stay here was absolutely perfect, highlight of my trip. We got the suite and it was amazing, it was newly renovated so everything was clean and shiny, I thought it looked way better than the pictures so I would highly recommend it. The private in room onsen was fantastic, just made it so much easier to onsen whenever you feel like it. The onsen water was also absolutely amazing, had the slightest tinge of sulfur so you know you're getting the real deal. I must have went in at least 5 separate times cause it felt so good. The floor felt like real wood and there were fresh cut flowers in the room. The public onsen was also very good, at least the yin yang one has a cold water basin so you can alternate dipping in and out which was fantastic, the massage chair was also really good. Food was of the highest quality, very delicious. We got the fugu menu and it was very nice. Had a lot of fugu. Also tried horse sashimi! Staff were very friendly and polite. We felt pampered on our trip. It is slightly out of the way but taking the regional train on the last leg did feel pretty neat and authentic. I was so sad to leave, wish I could visit again. Feels like 7 or 8 out of 5, such a nice place.

It's close to the station, the spring water is pure, it flows freely, the food is excellent, the facilities are immaculately cleaned, and the staff are friendly. It's been a while since I've stayed at a lodging that's perfect. Even after hopping on the Shinkansen after work, I was able to take two days off a week and feel like I was on a three-day, two-night trip. I arrived around 9 p.m. with a no-dinner plan, and enjoyed the free-flowing hot spring water that was open all night. The next morning, breakfast was a delicious, no-nonsense ryokan breakfast. Nothing pre-made, everything was homemade, which was impressive. The public bath is closed during the day for cleaning, but I used the public bath at Bessho Onsen instead. I stayed multiple nights, and dinner on the second night was carefully prepared and delicious. There were many thoughtful touches, including a reusable shower bed, a large, movable towel rack, four bath towels, and the option to add yukata (I only had two for two days) (even when I stayed two nights somewhere, they only provided me with a yukata and one towel). I used the public bath 10 times, and it was always clean and well-maintained. Draft beer is also available for free at set times! The soft, free-flowing hot spring water has a faint sulfurous scent, but because it is weakly alkaline, your skin will remain smooth no matter how many times you bathe.

We stayed in a premium suite. It comes with hot spring baths, in-room dining, and all-inclusive benefits. The room was spacious and comfortable, with plenty of free refrigerators. The amenities were luxurious, with Bora BA cosmetics, a shower head, hair dryer, and Refa toiletries. The hot spring baths and bathtubs are spacious. The bathtub has a certain amount of water and temperature. It's supposed to be a free-flowing bath, but it doesn't overflow...I wonder how that works. The view from the room is not good. The food is a menu that is only available for this room, and some of it looks good and is prepared by the head chef himself. I think it could be a little simpler. Some of the food was temperature-controlled due to the elaborate presentation. The changing room for the large public bath was small, so there were times when we gave up using it, but it was convenient because the outdoor baths were nearby. There were plenty of free drinks in the public spaces, and the beer was also generous, with all-you-can-drink beer. Above all, the staff were very kind and nice. I think you'll be satisfied with the standard plan. I like the quality of the spring water in Bessho, and there are many good inns there.
