Colonial Village Resort

Completely run down place. Inside the cabin was acceptable despite all the photos of cabins with kitchens there wasn't a kitchen. Had to wash up dishes in the back packers communal kitchen. The "Family" that is said to own this place needs to do some ongoing maintenance and gardening. It is not a resort but merely for back packers and camping. Most rooms and cabins don't seem to be available. Maybe lack of maintenance. Could not find the cabins with decks out front that are displayed on their Web site.

I arrived at 4pm to find the room in a shocking state. The double bed was terribly soft and paired with a cheap, almost unusable pillow. There was no air conditioning, just a noisy ceiling fan that sounded like a helicopter, and only one chair. The room lacked a TV, fridge, and even basic amenities like tea or coffee. I requested a different room or an upgrade, but none were available. Without a car, I couldn’t look for alternative accommodation. It was one of the most difficult experiences I’ve had.

I can only comment on the room we were given looked good on the internet but on arrival found the room to be very old in every way, door to bathroom faulty, screen door at entry had no lock or latch, switch in bathroom was broken, requested some sort of heating only to be told there was none we had to go and buy a fan heater. The place itself looked very unkept and looked more like a jungle retreat. The lighting was dim making it even more unpleasant I would in no way recommend the place judging on the cabin we had.

I've booked 2 nights accomodation, and 5 hours after booking was informed that the event we were scheduled to go was cancelled due to wet weather. I contacted this Colonial Village Resort and spoke to staff named "Karen". This person was so rude. No customer service skills. I've asked to reconsider providing a credit as the event will be rescheduled at some point in time. Karen refused and is not flexible. I asked her that it was also out of our control and it's due to the weather that the event was cancelled, she would not heed, and barraged me. This person should not be employed at hospitality. I think most of the vendors in Hervey Bay area were also impacted and would gladly issue a credit to ensure customers come back. But this resort, it'll be interesting if they survive the economy. Horrible Karen. You should be ashamed of yourself. Management please employ someone more professional.

Check-in took too long. When advised have partner coming male guy suggested to singles beds. No light in lamp. Not friendly for sane sex couples. When wanting to rebook was told cold not do so. Due to beeing local. Maryborough is not local at all. Pictures look nothing like the place.

We stayed the caravan sites they have which were fine but no grey water drains just had to let it go on the grass next the van. Was a quiet spot close to everything but entire place was run down and had been let go. Needs a big clean up. Went for a walk to the pool and restaurant area was a nice area but restaurant was closed due to no stuff. When we arrived there was no one on site called the mobile phone number provided but no answer when someone finally answered I was told to wait and check in at 2 pm we arrived at 1:30pm I think that is very poor.
