We had tears in our eyes when we departed Simbambili after our last game drive. Caroline, who was lovely, warm, attentive, kind and personable led an excellent team at the lodge. We couldn't ask more of the staff, who remembered our likes, dislikes and cocktail preferences. Glory, our fabulous butler was simply beautifully amazing and thoughtful. I had talked about how much I loved the granola, and when we departed I was gifted with a beautiful bag of it, which I am still enjoying. Housekeeping was excellent as was laundry service, which we utilized on a daily basis. The lodge was the perfect size for us, small and intimate with lovely accommodations, accurately describes on their site and other reviews here. Simbambili is so much more than a game lodge, and it was on our game drives that we were totally transported to another place. Our tracker Roy and guide Solomon were an amazing team. Watching Roy quietly and intently looking at paw prints and dung and signaling where to turn was amazing. He had such a sense of calm and knowledge and positive intensity. And then there was Solomon, who we fondly named him the Professor, because we learned so much. The bush is him home and he knows it so well and shares it at such an excellent level. It was so much more than seeing incredible animals in the wild. It was the education about the animals , their prey, how they live, and the trees, and the termite mounds...it was an incredible education game drive twice a day and we were totally blown away each time. Professor Solomon is a true bush man. His knowledge enhanced our experience exponentially and we are grateful to have had this amazing experience with him and Roy. Many thanks for the special touches...a birthday cake, incredible singing, dining on our deck and a drawn bathtub with a bucket of cap classique and tea candles. Every little touch like that makes Simbambili special. We hope to return and we highly recommend Simbambili. A huge shout out to Caroline, Roy, Professor Solomon and Glory. They all deserve accolades for the work they do, with passion.
