We had tears in our eyes when we departed Simbambili after our last game drive. Caroline, who was lovely, warm, attentive, kind and personable led an excellent team at the lodge. We couldn't ask more of the staff, who remembered our likes, dislikes and cocktail preferences. Glory, our fabulous butler was simply beautifully amazing and thoughtful. I had talked about how much I loved the granola, and when we departed I was gifted with a beautiful bag of it, which I am still enjoying. Housekeeping was excellent as was laundry service, which we utilized on a daily basis. The lodge was the perfect size for us, small and intimate with lovely accommodations, accurately describes on their site and other reviews here. Simbambili is so much more than a game lodge, and it was on our game drives that we were totally transported to another place. Our tracker Roy and guide Solomon were an amazing team. Watching Roy quietly and intently looking at paw prints and dung and signaling where to turn was amazing. He had such a sense of calm and knowledge and positive intensity. And then there was Solomon, who we fondly named him the Professor, because we learned so much. The bush is him home and he knows it so well and shares it at such an excellent level. It was so much more than seeing incredible animals in the wild. It was the education about the animals , their prey, how they live, and the trees, and the termite mounds...it was an incredible education game drive twice a day and we were totally blown away each time. Professor Solomon is a true bush man. His knowledge enhanced our experience exponentially and we are grateful to have had this amazing experience with him and Roy. Many thanks for the special touches...a birthday cake, incredible singing, dining on our deck and a drawn bathtub with a bucket of cap classique and tea candles. Every little touch like that makes Simbambili special. We hope to return and we highly recommend Simbambili. A huge shout out to Caroline, Roy, Professor Solomon and Glory. They all deserve accolades for the work they do, with passion.

What an amazing bush getaway! We loved the room, deck and sala… so pretty and secluded! The communal areas are so welcoming and it was a treat to go for a sauna and swim in the lap pool… while being spoilt by the staff! The food was special… the bush breakfast and dinner was extra special! Not to mention our private candle lit dinner on our deck… truly something to remember!! The game drives were all time! The baby leopard twins are my all time favorite… Again… like all the Thornybush lodges, the staff is the reason that a wonderful bush break becomes extraordinary!!! Keep up the good work!

I loved Simbambile♥️!We have stayed within all of the Thornybush Lodges and found Simbambile the best by far! Check in was efficient with a refreshing welcoming drink. Accommodation: Beautifully designed modern, spacious rooms that lead onto a private wooded deck complete with a comfy sala, dip pool and pristine lounges. I loved the fact that the pool was clean and the deck well-maintained. Complete privacy and a view of the bush was so relaxing. The king bed was extremely comfortable with decent linen. Large duck down pillows and a clean throw completed the spoil! Lots of storage, hangers, a safe and quiet aircon. I loved that the suite always smelt of florals. The coffee machine posed a problem from day one and never got better, even with a few swops. The mini bar was generously stocked and restocked daily! The bathroom boasted double vanities with a variety of summer and winter Mungo towels to choose from. The shower was perfect in size with a large rain shower head and decent water pressure. We were a bit disappointed that there was no outdoor shower, but a decent sized bath with a full view of the outdoors made up for that. Amenities supplied were Charlotte Rhys and generously provided. Housekeeping: Brilliant! A big deal here with consistent evening turn downs, perfect replenishment of towels and linen was always crisp and fresh. Thank you for this! Food and Beverage: The menus offered at Simbambile were great with exception of the Boma Dinner which was sub-standard. Butternut soup and dried Braaied meats, 2 boring salads and the proverbial Malva Pudding. I don’t understand how one can serve soup and a boring baked dessert in summer- it was a complete let down. The plated breakfasts were exceptional as were most of the dinners, however the lodge comes across as challenged with inconsistency in the kitchen. Background music would enhance the ambiance within the dining setting. We found this exclusion rather strange. Inclusive wines offered need an upgrade too. I feel for the price one pays, Protea is a no go. I took my Cartology on game drives. Service at our table was relaxed and good but not attentive. Coffee served at mealtimes is a win. Proper! The High Tea is a complete let down. A jar of jelly babies, whole fruit and an arb cake. No savouries and the cake is a hit and miss. Why not serve Italian Bruschetta, Cheese and Salmon Scones, Mini Beef Yorkies, Fillet on Mini Baps….? The kitchen needs to jack up here! Game Drives: Doc and Service are a formidable team. Sincere interest, honed knowledge and teaming with enthusiastic adrenaline! WOW! I have never experienced such unique viewing! This was another level entirely. I rewarded them well and unfortunately, sad to say, doubt that I will ever experience such a wild adventure again- from a fresh leopard kill to a hyena stealing it, close approaching of a teen elephant, a pride of lions basking in a haze of sunshine, wild dogs on the chase, a herd of elephants crossing in f

My wife and I stayed at this lodge in June 2025. It was our first safari experience(unless you count Disneyworld). This place was absolutely amazing from the lodge, the staff, the room and the game drives. We had such an amazing time here. Caroline is the one who checked us in and she was so friendly. Andrew was our butler and he took such good care of us. Solomon(game driver) and Roy(spotter) were amazing-they got us to see the animals up close. Tamzin was so nice and welcoming. We were overwhelmed by their care for the guests. There is a reason this lodge has the reviews it does. Also, we were celebrating my wife's birthday and the staff decorated our room with roses and gave us a bottle of champagne. Also set up a romantic dinner on our deck. Thanks so much to such a memorable time. This stay and experience will go down as one of the best places we have experienced and stayed at. We highly recommend this lodge.

My daughter and I celebrated big birthdays with a Sth African safari experience beginning with three nights at Simbalili Game Lodge. It was a wonderful experience brought about by Tanya and Mike’s businesslike but thoughtful caring. My particular dietary requirement was met and therefore enabled me to be out there participating fully. This is a sophisticated hostelry but retains an easiness which is enviable - and much appreciated. My grateful thanks for ensuring we saw so much. Lunching on the deck with elephants passing below has to be very special!! Then a leopard! Lucky us.

Look no further, Simbambili was the nicest safari experience we could have ever dreamed to have. Exceptional food, a dream staff that made you feel like family, beautiful location with animals everywhere, lovely rooms and comfortable beds, and really exciting drives. The lodge and experience we had completely exceeded our expectations, and we had the best time ever! With a very knowledgeable tracker Roy and Ranger Solomon we saw the big 5 and so much more. The team there really made our trip. I would highly recommend choosing this lodge for your stay!

This resort was 5 stars all the way! The staff, the food, the rooms, the spa and our game drives were all EXCEPTIONAL!! Trevor, our guide was top notch! He went out of his way, literally off roading to get closer or find numerous animals during our 7 game drives with him. He was so knowledgeable and fun! in the mornings he would have coffee and snacks ready for us and in the evenings had the BEST happy hours for us out in the bush...it was absolutely AMAZING!! The food was gourmet and the rooms were stunning!

The Simbambili Lodge in Kruger National Park was outstanding. We stayed there 3 nights with our family and were really blown away by the scenery and the luxury. While having breakfast, lunch and dinner, you overlook the Kruger National Park allowing you to spot wildlife even when you're eating. The villas had everything, including a small Pool. It was very luxurious and couldnt wish for more. The food served was also outstanding and with Glory we had a wonderful host who was always in a good mood. Our tour guides Chris en Mike made our gamedrives unforgettable! Chris has a very good eye to spot wildlife and is not afraid to jump of the jeep to look for wildlife on foot. Mike has so much experience and knowledge, he knew everything. Also, he always put us close to the wildlife allowing us to always have the best views on them. We were extremely happy to have Chris and Mike as our tour guides! In short, we had an amazing and memorable stay, which we will never forget!
