A nice little hotel with bar and restaurant, decent breakfast , really offering a nice choice of traditional or lite meal.
Clean , helpful staff, especially the handyman who made sure i had a fan in my room. Small rooms but comfortable , just a bit too stuffy in the hot weather.
All in all a satisfactory pleasant place to stay

We enjoyed our stay at The Bear. Our room was comfortable and heated up quickly when we put the radiator on. The shower was powerful and easy to control. Our only disappointment was that there was not a cooked breakfast due to staff shortages, but the continental breakfast was sufficient and we did not go short. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Room very comfortable, quiet and decent size. TV was not working, but no big deal. Staff super-friendly. Restaurant definitely worth taking advantage of. Very nice breakfast.

I thought the room I was in was badly decorated and looked very tired and sad. Certainly nothing near the ad.
Bathroom was better with tiling, but no care forfinishing touches, which is a shame. Lots of internal noise intermittently from pipes(?) water. Heating.
Staff helpful when approached.
Breakfast also nice, with cheerful staff.

Good location with free parking after 18.00 in the public car parks. Breakfast is amazing and should be considered when comparing prices.

This hotel has a lovely old fashioned atmosphere and is a prominent building in Wantage town centre. We dined in and found it very good, as was the breakfast. I recommend having your breakfast by the window - the breakfast room is on the first floor and you can enjoy people watching as the people of Wantage go to work and school. The staff were uniformly excellent. The one single suggestion that I would have for improvement is that blackout curtains be put into the rooms, since my room (no 1) was directly above an area that was lit all night.

Good stay. Very good breakfast. Good and friendly staff. Hotel itself is quite down at heel - charming but needs grouting.
