"It was really a disappointment, because I was really looking forward to staying at Mollie’s. The photos they posted were really bright and clean and modern, unfortunately it was far from the truth. Service was poor, the two different ladies working at the front seat were indifferent, couldn’t care less about us coming and going. The room was very dark, the air con shut off for no reason in the middle of the night, I couldn’t understand the bathroom design at all, a rain forest type shower head was installed, with no shower curtain and the wooden double door and edge of the bathroom right behind you, result? Water flowing out of the bathroom, and I guess it happens all the time because the floorboards outside the bathroom were dark and damp. There was no racks or hooks in the bathroom, so no where for you to hang a towel or any clothes, so basically you need to remove all your clothes before going into the bathroom, then come out of it naked dripping wet when all your family members or friends are outside. Really clever design. I slept in the top bunk. It was dusty. Just dust everywhere, I had to wipe with wet towels, it was filthy. It was also very bright from about 6:30am, and it was how I saw a bug on the bed. Really disappointing experience."

"Traditional village pub. Good range of food and drinks and the room was very comfortable. Staff friendly and obliging, but when spending £100 for an overnight stay, I'd expect not to be charged extra for breakfast!"

The Volunteer Inn

"Unfortunately, the accommodation did not live up to the description on The Volunteer Inn's website. "The Volunteer Inn is a recently re-opened lively Public House based in the lovely village of Grove found within Wantage in Oxfordshire. With 5 en-suite Double Guest Rooms all freshly redecorated and modern facilities installed, this lovely Inn is a wonderful treat for business users, couples, and much more." As you can see from the photos, these statements are misleading. The corridors leading to the rooms are grubby and in need of repair (holes in walls and ceilings). The stairway is steep and has low ceilings (I feel this should be outlined in case people have access requirements). The room itself was adequate but with a very old, very thin quilt, with no additional blankets, meaning I was cold all night. There was a fan just outside the room which made an intermittent noise which made for interrupted nights sleep. The shower over the bath did not have any grab rails and this meant that I was unable to have a shower. The carpark was dark, with no lighting. We tried to explain our concerns and give the manager an opportunity to address our concerns. After some back and forth we refused to stay for the full duration of our stay and found alternative accommodation in Wantage for the same price, which included breakfast and surpassed expectations."

The Greyhound Inn

"The Greyhound was one of our stops overnight while doing the Ridgeway walk with a couple of old friends. Very comfortable and very friendly with excellent service. Good beer and also good food. Very quick with our breakfast which was great as we needed to make an early start. Lovely pub."
