Whale Island Resort

The beach here is very clean, and I rarely saw any trash. This is probably due to good resort management and tourists being conscious about keeping it clean. I really liked this, as it helps the beach retain its wild beauty.

WHALE ISLAND resort was organized in 1997 and after almost 30 years the vegetation has became abundance, well kept, branches properly trimmed so that you have imagination of staying in perfect garden. The bungalows were nice bamboo hats, facilities were clean, in very good condition. Fans in bungalows, beds covered with muslin against mosquitos, warm water, complimentary drinking water. Staff was extremely friendly and responded positively to all our requests. Food in the restaurant (no other option of catering as there is no other restaurant or grocery shop nearby) was very tasty, bar had good selection of world alcohols. Beach is a shell-type beach which makes bare fool walking a bit painful. Water in the sea is crystal clear. You must however be careful while swimming as some big rocks are withing the swimming area and in some areas sea urchins can be easily spotted. Sport centre with mask/tubes, kayaks. Massage services at quite reasonable services. 30 min walking trail to the summit gives nice panoramic view of the area specially at sunset time. In generally – good place for total relaxation.

We stayed a couple of days at Whale Island Resort. The food and cocktails were remarkable and because the island is not accessible by car, it was really quiet on the beach as on the sea. There are some nice hiking options and for snorkling as well.

My friend and I booked this resort for a one-night stay on March 3, planning for a short but memorable getaway. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed — the resort is absolutely beautiful, and the staff was incredibly friendly, accommodating, and informative about all the activities available. The private transport service we booked made getting from Nha Trang to the resort easy and comfortable. We had an amazing time swimming in crystal-clear waters, soaking in the breathtaking views, enjoying delicious food, trekking on the island, and kayaking. However, the main reason I'm writing this review is to share how incredibly supportive the resort team was during a critical and vulnerable moment. In the evening, I accidentally stepped on a sea urchin, and since this had never happened to me before, the pain was intense, and I was in complete shock — I needed to get to a hospital as soon as possible. Amidst all the chaos, the resort manager quickly stepped in, arranged a boat and a private car to the nearest hospital, and personally accompanied us at night, helping with the Vietnamese language. He stayed with us until I calmed down and the doctors took care of everything. In an incredibly kind gesture, he also covered the first-aid care expenses while we were still processing what had happened. In such a stressful situation, his support, presence, and understanding meant the world to me, and I’ll always be grateful for his kindness. So, if you’re considering this resort — go for it! It’s a stunning place, and the level of care and hospitality is exceptional. I just wish I hadn’t gotten injured, but even that experience showed me how wonderful the team is. 10/10, absolutely recommend. Writing this review is my small way of saying thank you!

We spent 3 days and 2 nights at Whale Island Resort, fully immersed in nature. There was no Wi-Fi, TV, air conditioning, or any digital devices. Our stay was filled with family conversations, laughter, and exploring the island. We took a short 1-hour trail walk from one side of the island to the other, while others could have a 3-hour trail exploring the surroundings. Our kids loved the beach, discovering small crabs, shells, fish, and coral. It would be great to have more food options on the menu besides the fixed set lunch and dinner, which could also use some improvement. We will definitely return to WIR for another nature experience in the near future!
