The location is good and the hotel is just fine. Need some renovation around the path leading to beach. Many opt for this location for ease of access to beaches, if that is not maintained it will lead to disappointment.
The SPA is not per the expectation and the maintenance of the spa is very bad. Food is above average. The buffet breakfast is fine but lacks variety for those staying longer. Overall it was a good experience. The attender at the pool Mr. Babu is very good, he should be awarded for his fine service. Overall the hotel staff are polite and well mannered and hear to our concerns.

Excellent Hotel with excellent services. The managers and staffs kept us very comfortable and most importantly accommodated to our toddlers meals during the stay. Very beautiful view as very peaceful hotel!

It was average. The main highlight was pool and the staff. Breakfast was awful very average considering it was taj's unit. The resort is big and lush. It's under renovation currently and I would say not the best of stays during our Kerala trip.

Sylvan surrounding with lot of greenery around, stay was very pleasant. Excellent service with helpful and friendly staff. Delicious food. Very nice spots to visit nearby. Hotel has a very good travel desk to hire vehicles for visiting tourist spots. Housekeeping service is excellent . Dining facilities at the restaurant and in room are very good .

Staying at the Gateway Varkala was an amazing experience from the friendly staff to the authentic decor and the amazing views of the Arabian Sea. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. Every guest was treated specially by the staff from Reggie the concierge to Ashwathy at reception, Sudeep head of security and Dhamesh the general manager. I have stayed at the Taj cove green in Kovellum which is beautiful also but the staff here at the gateway really make it feel like home away from home. A special thanks to the staff and chef in restaurant who were so polite and efficient, producing so many wonderful local dishes.

Well located, comfortable 4 star stay with proximity to beach. Alas the very reason I booked the property which was easy access to beach was unavailable due to rains, and that's not the resort's fault, just bad luck. However the food was really expensive and it was frankly annoying, plus the service is slow. Upon voicing my opinion that the dinner buffet was not worth Rs. 1500, without my asking they gave a 50% discount. Then why do you price it that way?? It sounded to me like Gateway is unable to manage the costs of running such an upscale resort due to lower footfall and want to take it out on whoever stays. I mean, you're charging Rs. 500 for a 2 minutes Maggi noodles bowl, calling it Noodles with curry, and it was delivered in 45 minutes. If this is not laughable then I don't know.... On positive side the stay was very comfortable and the cab arranged by hotel to Trivandrum worked out very well, thanks.

Extremely happy that I opted to stay at Gateway Varkala. Best thing is the staff members are extremely good and friendly. They create a Home type environment and take personal interest in service. Food is excellent. Kerala specific food is served as a snack (no charges), this is very unique. Rooms are very neat and comfortable. I had a good sea view room. Finally its a value for money. Beaches are nearby. Transport available to visit places around Varkala. Thank You Gateway Varkala
