Cocogiri Island Resort Maldives

I shall confine my review to the Island itself as flights and transfers are outside of their control. We had booked through BlueBay Travel in the UK and we always arrange our own flights. We arrived at the Island around noon, Maldives time having a short boat trip from the pontoon to the Island after our short Seaplane journey. We had a warm and friendly welcome to the Island along with a refreshing drink and towel. Check in was speedy and informative and we were shown to our Over Water Villa, room 203. The room had everything we needed, was light and airy with a patio door onto the decking which overlooked the Indian Ocean. My only complaint was that the bed didn't face the ocean. The decking has steps down to the pristine waters and we saw so many fish just standing on the decking. There is a rope net bathing area on the deck that allows you to sun bathe whilst looking down at the coral around the Villa. Personally I found it uncomfortable and lay on it once to try it out in our 12 days there. Snorkelling off the steps was like swimming in a fish tank. So many fish of varying colours and sizes. On my first swim out I saw a Turtle and Reef Shark. Over the coming days, along with the Maldivian norm, I saw a pair of Lion fish, Puffer fish acouple of different Turtles making a regular visit and reef sharks. We regularly saw a podcast of dolphins from either the restaurant or the water villa swimming in the channels. From what I saw, the coral was obviously thriving around the Island as the colours were fresh and vibrant. There is obvious recovery here from the "bleaching" often reported in the Maldives. We went out on one trip during our stay - Sharks and Turtles. It sounds scarier than it is and is superbly run by the excellent Dive Centre on the Island. We had the most amazing memories of that trip and highly recommend it. The weather was changeable during our stay which was officially the start of the wet, monsoon season. We had one bad day and it rained on several nights. It did not detract from our magical stay. We upgraded half way through our stay to a Jacuzzi Water Villa, room 214 and the staff made our move simple, taking many clothes still on hangers to save time on packing. The rooms were cleaned daily and the team did an excellent job. Thorough and always friendly and polite. My wife is a diabetic and we were provided with diet / zero coke in our room fridge daily. We were in the Jacuzzi every day and it was hard to extract my wife from it at times. The restaurant - just the one, Buffet style. The food was very varied and cattered for many different tastes. We learned that there are 12 chefs, yes 12 in the kitchen which clearly showed from the varieties of freshly baked breads, meats, Curries, pizza, pasta, salads, ohhh and the deserts, larges cakes, small individual cakes, chocolate balls, fruit drink shots, doughnuts, biscuits 😋 There was always a chef cooking something different on the cooking station. We felt relaxed the moment we stepped off the speedboat onto the jetty at this delightful resort. A quick check in, then off to our lovely accommodation for the week, a sunrise beach villa. Within 5 minutes we were swimming in the crystal clear water and spotting beautiful fish. This resort had all we hoped for, and our expectations were high. Delicious food, plenty of choice at every meal, drinks whenever you fancied, and smiling helpful staff. If you are considering this peaceful resort, go, you won't regret it.

We spent 2 blissful weeks in water villa 216 in April 2025. We couldn't fault anything at all! The accommodation was great, just as we expected and being able to step from our balcony in the Indian Ocean was fantastic. Everywhere we went on the (small) island it was spotless - clean & tidy. Food was very good. On a previous Maldives trip (to somewhere more to the south) I wasn't overly fond of the food, it as barely luke warm. No such problems here, the food was freshly prepared and hot. The varying selection of curries were my go to. Staff were all friendly and welcoming. Tina was available if we had anything to discuss but we were totally happy so no issues to raise. If I'm being very picky then I'd like a better selection of alcohol free drinks. My wife and I don't drink alcohol so an alcohol free lager would be been ideal but the plentiful of tonic water & water did us nicely.

Thank you to Cocogiri resort for making us feel welcome in our honeymoon. This trip was very important to us so we have some reviews to say about the place. As our stay was 10 days in total, we had our water villa room decorated and a bottle of bubbly we appreciated so much. We thought we would have more conversation with the manager during our stay but she didn’t until we checked out which i noticed she wouldn’t approach to talk with the younger couples we were staying and made me sad as i saw another sad gesture that in our departure we didn’t receive a tote bag as other families they did because they told me. Although we appreciate the approaching of the waiters, chefs and Meridis group, who gave top service and lovely conversations even if sometimes it is forbidden for them as we noticed from the manager, which we didn’t like as it is very important when you go to a hotel that the service can be themselves while they still be professional. Very strange… For the money we paid we were expecting good Wifi, but instead they have it all organized for you to top up data and charge you 30 to 45$ a week. Didn’t like that at all. Food was lovely, some days we ate better than others i think there’s need for improvement. Last thing but not least. If you want a very quiet place, this is the resort you’re looking for because there wasn’t any entertainment at all just one day, we had one man singing. For us and being in an island for 10 days, it is very important to have entertainment.

We had a blast at Cocogiri, Tina and her staff were great as we did not want for anything, we would recomend this Island for anyone, the reef was amazing with all kinds of sea life, our Over Water Villa was clean and comfortable and our upgrade to pool/jacuzzi was worth every cent

This was our second visit to Cocogiri and the island and staff were just as awesome as the first time. This time around we brought the whole family. A group of 11 decended on Cocogiri. Tina and her team were super freindly and caterered to all our needs, even a last minute change to celebrate an anniversary. Thanks Tina and team.
