We have just spent a very special week at the Grand Hotel Royal and this hotel is absolutely first class. It has such elegance and original features from the grand dining room, which would look stunning if candles were placed on the tables, this is not a criticism, to the entrance and staircase, could go on and on. The outside area is so calm and well maintained could imagine sitting outside in the Summer months a joy. Must mention the food, wow was blown away by the quality, choice and presentation, to have a choice of oysters, prawns, sea bass and red mullet showed the high standard of this hotel. To finish this review big thank you to all of the staff, everyone of them, faultless. Thank you

Super 7 days stay at the Grand Hotel Royal. We stayed in a room with a sea view. It was very comfortable with plenty of room and a really good bathroom. Food in the hotel was excellent at all meal times and lunches were available at the pool. There was a large swimming pool and all the plentiful sunbeds were well maintained. The beach was across the road with access to the hotel's own high quality sunbeds. My wife and I had an excellent time and would thoroughly recommend the hotel to future travellers.

We stayed here for a week and were very impressed. We arrived late in the evening, past dinner time, and they laid on a cold platter just for us. Courteous, helpful staff, nice room - well-furnished. Excellent menu and restaurant food. Good swimming pool. We loved it!

Had a lovely week at the Grand Hotel Royal. It's a gem of a hotel which provided our base for a weeks stay. This was our second stay in Viareggio having previously stayed at the Grand Hotel Principe Di Piemonte which is a 5 star hotel close by. The Grand Hotel Royal was pretty much a match and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotel and the friendliness and help of all the staff who went out of there help to provide excellent service. I had the need to attend a local hospital and the concierge staff were quick to advise and arrange for transportation to the hospital. We had a couple of days staying local, enjoying the hotel pool and table tennis and a few days taking day (train) trips to Florence, Sienna and Cinque Terre which was a fantastic day out and worth the 18 Euros day card available from the station at La Spezia which enables you travel between all of the 5 beautiful villages on the line. We did all of the villages in about 6 hours using the trains. All in all a fantastic holiday in a quality hotel with super helpful staff all within the beautiful towns and villages of Tuscany. What more could you ask for?

Could not fault this hotel everything about it is 5 Star. The staff go out of their way to make sure your stay is exceptional. I would highly recommend it to everyone. The food is wonderful and such a choice.

Great Hotel in a prime position. Stayed here for a week with my family and had a great time. Nice and quiet, stress free experience and very friendly staff. I would definitely recommend. Rooms were comfortable and clean (we had two to accommodate 5 of us) and the service was very good. Nice pool with decent food and drink on offer and the restaurant was good. Access to a nice beach included, with a very good bar that serves food. Couldn't think of much to criticise, only that it would have been nice if we could have chosen lunch rather than dinner to be included in the half board (7:30 pmstart was a little late for my youngest) and bed side table plugs not suited to UK travel adapters, but that was just a ******. All things considered we would definitely go back.
