Mermaid Hotel & Club

An amazing hotel situated in front of the beach where you will have amazing sunsets. Thank you for the yoga classes that were excellent! Rooms are spacious, clean and the staff is very friendly! It was a real pleasure! Thanks to all! Big up to the Chef and his team! Everything was so delicious!

Waiting for our taxi to take us to Colombo airport so thought it a good idea to write this report before this holiday fades . First time to Sri Lanka although we have been to some of the Indian Ocean islands . We weren’t disappointed with either the hotel or country . It’s a fantastic if at sometimes chaotic country to visit . We were in room 260 which has a good view of the ocean and the rooms were very clean and spacious . Our housekeeper who has been working for the hotel for 31 years was brilliant . His name was Niahl always with a smile and he took pride in his work . Thank you Niahl . His line manager Kusalria was also very approachable . Although the hotel was tired in parts the location was stunning - a large garden area backing on to the beach . The strength of the hotel is its work force who are incredibly diligent and hard working - nothing was ever too much trouble . In the restaurant there is a mix of foods although understandably it’s mainly curries or Sri Lankan food . The waiters are so attentive and I would personally like to thank Mahinra , Saman , Cheeky Boy ( he is excellent with his understanding of English and the customs and Wasantha . Trips are worth undertaking and we made use of the Mercury rep who organised a fantastic couple of days out seeing some incredible parts of the island . Please take the opportunity as there is so much to see . There are two pools on site - the main one and a games one - both very well maintained . I was however able to go into the sea on most days - a strong current but perfectly accessible if you are sensible . Finally the biggest thanks must go to Shivi and his understudy in the sports department . As a retired PE teacher I so much enjoyed what was on offer - every day was varied and such good fun . During the week we were involved in water volleyball , table tennis , boule and of course cricket . There were other activities but more suited to fitter and younger people . Thank you Shivi keep on with the good work . Sorry I didn’t get the chance to say thank you - it rained heavily and you were doing a cycling course on our last full day .

Amazing hotel and staff rooms were clean food was amazing even though I have a food allergy of almonds they went above and beyond and catered very well I didn’t miss out on anything all staff are friendly and hotel is very safe and great for families Pool is clean and is right on the amazing beach a great place to watch the sun set And if your lucky you get to see the monkey that quite happily comes to investigate your balcony as well as the chipmunks

Amazing! I love this hotel, it was second time for us. Amazing location, sea is in hotel areal. Its nice hotel - nice room. I love bar - seaview. Very kind personal. Tasty meal, many option. A lot of activities, amazing yoga lessons with Shiva.

This was a good ecpeirience at the mermaid hotel and we had amazing outing with ourvkid they warmly welcome us ftom the front office Thanuja the GROvand the receptionist Amashi and Diluni the food was really tasty and room also very clean and tidy We recommend to go this hotel forcrelacing holiday

Relatively small hotel, which gives it quite a homely feel. All expected facilities like gym, table tennis, programme of activities etc. Staff are friendly and helpful, as is invariably the case in Sri Lanka. As a smaller hotel buffet doesn’t have quite as much variety as on some bigger places. One of the nights they had seafood, freshly cooked to order at the grill. That was really delicious, including prawns and deep fried spider crab. They also organise events most nights, which included a cocktail party (drinks complementary), encouraging customers to mingle and make friends. Majority of guests were French families when we were there which gave quite a nice atmosphere. The sea was also relatively calm so no problem with sea swimming.
